Photographer’s Note

East of Konya, there's really nothing interesting to see in the immense plateau typical of the region. A flat and straight road takes you to Karapinar, a small town. But near Karapinar, there's a surprise for photographers. After driving a few kilometers on a dirt road, the visitor suddenly finds himself surrounded by a lunar landscape, formed by an extinct volcano, and it's huge caldera transformed into a lake. There are a few lesser craters here and there, and it is not uncommom to see herds of sheep grazing on the slopes on the cone.
The place is visited by few, and one would certainly need a very wide angle or a panoramic if he is decided to include all the landscape. The light may also become a problem according to the weather anmd the hour.
