Luke 5:10
"and so were James and John, Zebedee's sons and Simon's partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, "Stop being afraid. From now on you will be catching men instead of fish."

...taken in Amasra, a small fishing port on the Black Sea coast...

(...situated in the ancient region of Paphlagonia, the original city seems to have been called Sesamus, and it is mentioned by Homer in conjunction with Cytorus. The place derived its name Amastris from Amastris, the niece of the last Persian king Darius III. The territory of Amastris produced a great quantity of boxwood, which grew on Mount Cytorus. On coins of the time of Trajan, Amastris has the title Metropolis. It continued to be a town of some note to the seventh century of our era. The city was not abandoned in Byzantine Era, when the acropolis was transformed into a fortress and the still surviving church was built. It was sacked by the Rus during the First Russo-Byzantine War in the 830s. But it was in 1261 that Amastris regained part of its former importance; in that year the town was taken by the Italian city-state of Genoa in its bid to obtain sole control of the Black Sea trade. Genoese domination ended in 1460 when the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II conquered the whole Anatolian shores of the Black Sea, forcing its inhabitants to move to Istanbul. The Greeks were replaced with Turkish villagers and the church became a mosque...)

Not LOL but LVH (laughing very hard)!!!
Fishing men? This image is not necessarily about the composition itself but about the twist that you gave with the title and the note complementing with a new interpretation of the New Testament.
Really very funny, Korkut!
Peter

Selam sevgili Korkut,
İki hafta ara ile aynı mekanlarda olmuşuz! Ben balıkçı "Mustafa Amca"nın yerinde balıkları götürürken sen dışarda çok keyifli bir iş yakalamışsın.
Gölgelerein uzunluğuna bakılırsa , geç saatlerde çekmiş olacaksın.
Verdiğin açıklamalar da super. Peter'in hakkı var.
Tebrikler
Selam ve sevgiler

Hi Korkut, your position, looking down on this group, and your timing to capture the baiting of the hook with 4 men walking by, just at the appropriate time, and then finally your caption have made this great. It does indeed look like she is fishing for men here.

Thanks, enjoyed! John

Merhaba Korkut,

Araba park edecek yer bile olmuyor o tarihlerde. 1-2 kez gitme gafletinde bulundum, kalabaliktan sokakta yurunmuyordu.

A love the way you combine your captures with meaningful quotes, and this one is well combined too. The historical note is also comprehensive and gives important details about this area.

harika bir an, illaki birine takılır o olta.. ilk bakışta oltanın misinasıyla uğraşan adamın elinde fotograf mak. var onunla uğraşıyor sandım, detaylı bakınca anladım:) tepeden bakış gölgelerin belirginliği ve kıyı ile oluşturduğun grafiksallik açısından çok güzel yine, yine ve yine...:) renk tonları "bostankorkulugu" tarzında.. bira şişelerini de ilk önce kuş sanmıştım:) notlarla beraber harika olmuş, eline sağlık,
ReLa

I think the high pov is what we need for this scenery! The form of the image together with the shadows are fine here!
Cheers file mou,
Thomas

merhaba korkut abi

kadın erkeklerden korkmuş olsa gerek bakışları çok garip çünkü yada diğer gencin birbirne dolaşmış misina ipini açmaya çalışmasını izliyor. birde kadının solunda duran iki tane efes fıçı dikkatimi çekti balık avlanırken bir yandan da keyip yapıyorlar heralde.
ellerine sağlık

hi Korkut, nice moment !very good work !

Hi Korkut,
what an excellent style how to catch a man, but i would do it better from back, this way she might damage the front of her future "shoot" :))
Good funny image, i like it, very creative :)
Take care
Veronika

Ah, okay. That is how it works in the bible. Wouldn't explain the famines though that we have had throughout history in Christian parts of the world. ;-) And elsewhere, but they were not taught such fine techniques of fishing.

Greetings,
Dennis

Merhaba Korkut.

Nice, nice picture. I really love the contrasts in this B&W picture.

My compliments!

Great one. Such a true life scene. The shadows are perfect. Great job.

Merhaba Korkut,
LOL a funny idea ! And also a good framing including all those nice shades, probably bw is the best way to maximize their impact.
Have a nice day JY

Light could be better, but besides that it’s an excellent snapshot. Timing was just perfect and the note gives the kick. How the hell did you find that citation? I didn’t know that you read the Bible secretly.
Did Simona drink beer while she was fishing? She doesn’t look like being such a girl.
Cheers
Andreas

Hahahahahahahhahaha bravoooo, hahahaha yeees it has a great funny ton and you gave also with your allegoric proposition that has needed to make me more laughing! -:)))
On the left side of the fisherman stay two bottles of beer and it is painted a heard these details give more funny ton here.
Congratulations.

merhaba,
gölgeler enfes... ışık, doku derken artık kompozisyon da yakalama konusundaki başarın oldukçe dikkat çekici... tebrikler...

merhaba korkut,
seems like turkey is a country of anglers...:-))
-------
everything in this image is diagonal - the pier's edge, the shadows, the guys, the beer bottles, and so on... everything looks to be arranged to make the world look diagonal...
fascinating that the angler is female and the bunch of guys seem to admire her who has a kind of challenging pose...
bw, j.

Hello Korkut,

Marie

Geia sou bostani mou!

There is an old saying in Greece about what moves a mountain or what has happened if you see a ship on top of the mountain but I can't write it because there are adolescent members in TE too! Great capture, very funny in my eyes, therefore diferent from you pesimistic style, great POV, composition and choice of b&w. Congratulations!

The Giritli

yes you could have taught me photography when i was there : next time
all the best
olivier

fishing men? a parallax of raining men? heh.

Nice shot, once again you were in the right place in the right time

Many Regards
Stelios

Excellent picture, you were so lucky having "captured the capturer" here, the shadows, the elegant sepia, all contributes to the success of this shot, my compliments for this!

Cheers
A

Hi Korkut,

Very nice shot. I like the composition and the remarkable effect of the double image of the shades. Good work!

Have a nice weekend.

Korkut bey merhaba,
Bakış açısı, kompozisyonu, gençlerin balık tutan bayana bakışları, kadraj sitili, gölgeler, bayanın sanki gençlerden birini yakalamışçasına duruşu hepsi harika olmuş. Çok iyi yakalamışsınız. Tebrikler,
EMir Nedim

Selam,

At first I had totally different feelings about the photo than the note. Dark souls going towards the innocent fisher...
Then I watched it for some while and I found the parallelism between the note and the photo. Those boys are not that dark and the fisher could be soon one of them... (even if she's a woman :P).
Very well seen and captured, Korkut! TFS!
