Dalyan in southern Turkey is all about tanning, tombs and turtles. Tanning, because it has one of the most unspoiled beaches in Turkey; tombs, because it lies in the shadows of beautiful temple- like facades carved into limestone cliffs; and turtles, because it's where the famous loggerhead or caretta turtles lay their eggs. Life here revolves around the River Calbis, Which gently flows past the town from Lake Köycegiz down to the sea.
The Dalyan delta is an area of immense natural beauty and has become one of Turkeys most treasured natural conservation areas. Dalyan flanked by imposing mountains and pine-clad hills. The river spreads out into tributaries, teeming with the local wildlife, a naturalists paradise. Ìztuzu Beach, home to the famous loggerhead (caretta caretta) turtles in Dalyan Across to the beach is by water taxi (co-operative boats) 45 minutes or dolmus (publics midi-bus) 25 minutes from Dalyan. Regulations have prohibited the buildings on the sandbank so all hotels and apartments are located in the Dalyan village.
Mouth-watering seafood-restaurants line the riverbank and the village has a smattering of local bars and souvenir shops and even a disco for the night owls.
What could be better after breakfast in Dalyan? Take a boat and wallow in the in the famous sulphur mud baths, or visit the ruins of the City of Counos which dates back 3000 years, or simply cruise along the Dalyan river and go back in time to when Humphrey Bogart and Kathryn Hepburn didn't have as such an easy task when filming the African Queen.

Vey intersting place. I was curious about the tombs, are that on the mount façade? It is possible to enter there?

beautiful photo of a beautiful landscape and very informative note too. Was "african queen" made there? One of my alltime favorites..
Following the golden rules it would be better to have space left between the border and a moving object in the direction of the move - the boat here.

It's wonderful! It transmits such a sensation of quiet beauty, with that peaceful water, that greenery and those tombs that look so much like a byzantine troglodyte monastery. Very romantic.
The POV and exposure are very good, but I notice a tilt towards the left and some lack of sharpness that is a bit damaging.

Hi Cuneyt, It's great to hear from you &, I hope to see some new postings in the near future, however after looking back into your site I came across this photo, I love the light gleaming on the water &, the ripples effecting the reflections, you have captured the wake of the boat very nicely &, there is great colour, however the tombs carved into the cliff face are very special, TFS, kind regards Wilson.
