Photographer’s Note

This is the second and last enrtry from thesame workshop.

Another master fully concebtrated in his craft.
Also this is a capture from a glass beads makers workshop in the small Aegean village Görece close to İzmir.
Here in about half a dozen small workshops, masters are producing in authentic glass kilns, glassbeads called in turkish "nazar boncuğu" and used as a protection against evil eyes.
This kilns are selfmade with mud and mudbrick and has often 3 openins. İn front of them 3 glassmakers are sitting all the day and producing around the clock glass beads.

Also scanned from a 35 mm diapositive.

At WS-I you can see a drawing of such a simple glass kiln and at WS-II, how the beads are been marketed.

Bu kare de bu konudaki ikinci ve son kare. İşine yoğunlaşmış camcı ustalarından biri.

Bu kare de, İzmir yakınlarındaki Görece köyünden bir nazar boncuk atölyesi.
Buradaki yarım düzine kadar camcı ocağında sayıları gittikçe azalan camcı ustaları, son derece primitif ortamlarda, çamurdan yaptıkları fırınlarda gün boyunca nazar bncuğu üretiyorlar.
3 gözlü bu fırınların herbir gözünün önündeki camcı ustası bütün gün boyunca boncuk üretir.

Bu kare de 35 mm lik bir dia'dan tarandı.

WS-I de böylesi bir camcı fırınının çizimini görüyorsunuz. WS-II de ise, boncukların pazarlanma şeklini; ipe dizili hevenkler halinde.

Hallo Mesut!
Unglaublich, wie manche Menschen immer noch für ihren Lebensunterhalt schuften müssen - und wahrscheinlich für einen Hungerlohn. Die für Arbeitsschutz hier zuständigen Berufsgenossenschaften würden wahrscheinlich sofort einschreiten, denn diese Arbeit mit flüssigem Glas ist ja nicht ganz ungefährlich. Fotos (auch gestern), die gefangennehmen...

A real documentary from those arts that little by little shrink away and in the near future they will be forgotten. You can see the conditions of work thru this very nice scan in great detail and sharpness. What I really like are those colors that take you back in time.

Hello Mesut Bey,

When I found out that you had shot this one with the F90x I also wondered whether you still took pictures with it now and then ? No doubt the F90x ( I had 2 of them ) was a wonderful camera in its time, but with the digital era, we are able to ckeck the results and gone is the time for bad surprises when checking the slides after processing.
Certainly not a bad surprise in this case, because you got an excellent resılt here. I would have put the flash a little down perhaps.
