Pergamon or Pergamum (Greek: Πέργαμος, modern day Bergama in Turkey, 39°7′N 27°11′E) was an ancient Greek city, in Mysia, northwestern Anatolia, 16 miles from the Aegean Sea, located on a promontory on the north side of the river Caicus (modern day Bakırçay), that became an important kingdom during the Hellenistic period, under the Attalid dynasty, 282129 BC. The Attalid kingdom was the rump state left after the collapse of the Lysimachian Empire

I always wanted to see a greek city but never had an opportunity. Good composition of the photo and wisely chosen POV. I like the colors as well - white columns with blue sky.
Take care, Wojtek

Hi Bulent, welcome to TE. I see that you already started in getting active. Continue doing so. Writing critiques is as important as posting. Try to write 20 critiques a day and you will learn a lot by that! Your post is nice but could be better. Somehwere early in the morning or later in the afternoon the light conditions would have been probably better. It makes the buildings "breath". Adding some human element would give a better perspective, also some story and colorsful contrast.

What a spectacular view. I saw this building being restored in 1989 and again in 1991, and both times the view was marred by unsightly cranes.

Bulent: small but growing portfolio. Technically a fine picture - but could be even just a little sharper. regards, c

A fine picture, well composed and very architectural with it's verticals so sharply maintained vertical, not so evident in many other shots. The only weak part is the light, because it was rather poor when you visited the site. Izzet

I see you've only recently joined TE. Welcome to this wonderful 'family'. It's nice to see you're slowly developing an album of attractive pics.
This one, in particular, caught my eye. The strong lines of these ancient ruins contrast nicely with the hills in the background and I like the overall composition of your image.
My only suggestion is that the image could probably be rotated slightly to the left so that the columns in the middle appear to be more vertical. That is, of course, assuming that they ARE vertical...

Very nice presatation of this composition.
I note a good lights balance between sky and the subject.

great perspective, the sky and the background with misty mountains adds very much to the weight of this picture. Very sharp and "art"-istic picture. TFS

Merhaba Bulent, I thought this was Ephesus...but I see that this should be a much less touristic place (it's quite dificult not to get tourists in the photos there). I like your composition. This set of ancient columns is quite attractive for the eye and the place seems wonderful, for what I see in the background.

You have composed this shot beautifully, emphasising the columns and a marvelous backdrop too.

This is well composed against a great background of hills and well exposed for detail. I'll have to come back when I have some more smilies.

I don't understand Turkish, but I guess I agree with Furkan: Perspektif ve kompozisyon süper!
I just would like the sky a little darker.
emjleclercq (15780) 2007-02-17 16:14
Probably not the way I imagined the city of Pergamon - which I thought was the same as the famous Homeric Troye - but a excellent view of Grecs ruins. The framing gives an excellent views o the columns.
All the best,
atus (15838) 2007-02-18 8:41
very well captured shot of this majestic site. The diagonal perspective is very well chosen and the light is very well managed. Very good overall sharpness with well visible details and also nice and natural colours here.
Tfs and have a nice Sunday!

this is an interesting view from Pergamon.
It looks to be in a high altitude.
The position of view is nice.
Information is helpful, too.

Kompozisyonu çok beğendim. Keşke biraz daha kontrastlı ve keskin olabilseymiş. Ama bu halide çok çok güzel.
