Another capture from Aphrodisias, I made early January in the year 2006.
In the foreground you can see the ruins of the Aphrodite Temple; at the horizont the Babadag mountains with marble quarries, where the Aphrodisian sculpturers had gotten their marbles.

Your notes tell us of the important link between the temple and the mountains, which the photograph links visually. I like how the line of columns leads nicely to the single, standing arch.
It's not always easy to make ancient sites look attractive to people who have not had the emotional experience. You have inspired us with this shot.
Have a lovely day,

Back to the ruins of Aphrodisian, again a very well picture.
We see different details with big stones and the columns to the right side.
Also a nice imminent sky as contrast on your nice picture.
Very well composition, TFS.

The snowcapped mountains make a superb backdrop to the ruined temples in the fg. Good sharpness and density with punchy light contrasts and excellent color and saturation. I like the graphism of the distant 2 columns against the darker mountains. Tfs!

So this picture is taken in the month of January. I'm a bit surprised that we don't see more snow on the peaks than we do on your picture 'Aphrodisian Beauties - IX' which was taken at the end of May.
It's a beautiful expansive landscape full of testimonies of the former culture in Aphrodisias.
The remainders of a (presumed) gate look wonderful with the dark mountains on the background.
Best regards, Paul

Ciao e buona serata

Walking amongst ancient ruins like these can be an overwhelming experience if your mind is tuned in to the atmosphere of a lost culture. You have managed to capture this quite well, making more of it than just a lot of stone. The lines of pillars and fundaments also give the composition a good depth, moving my eyes towards the distant mountain. I like the well saturated colours too.

Hello Mesut - I think I have mentioned before that this was one of my favourite archaeological sites in Turkey. This shot gives a superb overview of both the site and the location. Excellent composition and very attractive colour. Warm regards Rosemary
