Taken in the streets of Damascus. This man was sitting outside a store with a poster of the Asad brothers behind him. Photos of the Asads are everywhere. I guess you can call them the Asad Trinity: the Father who died a few years ago, the son who took after him, and the holy spirit of the other son who should have lead the country but died in an accident instead.

You got a shy guy this time Daniel, as a object of your photo, but...
The whole stuff is good, bro...
These kind of photos are visible quite often in the loco newspapers here and there...
Propaganda style photo - if i may say so...
strong, attacking our senses - POV
stay safe, bro

Hi Daniel - can't make up my mind about this image - first impression was strong and good and your note illuminated it further for sure - at one level it strikes me immediately and well......but then - like one of those optical illusion images that change a drawing of one thing into another - those light horns leap out of the guys head and I can't put them in the background anymore ....and it's maddening once I've seen the other image.....I really do like the contrast of his face/image/look against the projected image of the Asad's....that is such a nice contrast - his eyes available to us and theirs not - the different direction of their gazes - I had a problem with him looking out of the frame like that at one point but that seems to have been amended by looking at your picture over a much longer period....not such a great fan of the flash effects though!

Ce "regard extérieur" ne me gêne pas je trouve au contraire qu'il donne plus force à ce superbe portrait d'une grande et belle netteté.

You've created a striking and a kind of symbolic portrait to Syria.....very Arab looking and it seems to tell a story on it's own. The colours, compo and clarity are all very well managed. Well done.

Very nice observation on Syria. I stayed there only a couple of days, but since the entrance from the Turkish border on Friday night to the exit from the same border on Sunday night, i've seen countless posters and statues of the father and son. It was even more than the number of Ataturks we have here :))
You do this low POV thing quite effectively. Your model of that typical Arabic face, now seems a little bit more like an enigmatic person, as if he is a representer of the Syrian parliament. I guess I get what Kev means here, like, we are not that much used to see flash fill on faces. But, imho, this kinda presentation even makes your photo come closer to the photojournalistic reportage type which we see in the newspapers.
I could prefer a direct eye contact as well.

Reminds me of a picture i took in Cuba with a proud old man with a portrait of Che on the wall. Great timing here, man is looking to the right while big boy Asad is looking to the left. He looks a bit unsecure, maybe a bit shy, but you made him stand proud in front of the brothers...well done, i like this kind of work a lot..!!

Beau cadrage d'opportunité. Très bonne netteté jusque dans le bokeh tout-à-fait "lisible".

this one has reminded me of matrix... may be because of the sun glasses... or may be because of the word "trinity" in the note>:P... i like all three of them looking at different directions... cool portrait daniel...

Hard to interpret that expression on the man's face. The photo is quite successful in intriguing the viewer. The juxtaposition of the common man and the Asad Bros. is well-composed. Nice work, Daniel. Regards,
