Photographer’s Note
Aleppo, Syria. Cinema poster, normal cinema as far as I remember, but it highlights those precise moments which some of sexually restricted citizens of this muslim state would look for in mainstream movies accepted into Syrian cinemas.

It's an interesting cultural take Swiatek to show us a more intimate insight into the shifting stance within a Muslim country on human representation and behaviour - powerful piece of reporting in a way when the representation of the human (and even animal) form is a complete no no for many Muslims - it just shows the breadth of interpretation metered by, culture, politics and nationality in Islam across the world - the Western media focuses so much these days on the contrasts and 'struggles' with Islam but devotes so litle to the contrasts and struggles within the 'Moslem world'..................
