I remember this place well from my trip to Syria. Very spiritual place, the Umayyad Mosque, indeed. Great photo with vivid colours and excellent sharpness. Thanks for sharing

Hi, Deniz -
Very nice and colorful. I just wish you hadn't cut off both the top and the bottom of the books.
Morac (27665) 2008-06-17 14:10
Very nice and colorful.
Colored, graphic, symmetrical: it is superb.

Very well done, Deniz!
I like the colour contrast and composition - also, I like
the way you framed this one.
Excellent work in editing,

Beautiful light indeed on those shelves. The crop, well, i's not always easy to get what you want. I agree with some others it would be better if the books weren't cut off that way but still, that was a good idea and the result works for me anyway.
mariandrea (973) 2008-06-17 21:11
Hi Deniz, nice picture, very good composition, a really good idea, those golden books are amazing. Nice colours and sharpness, chau chau!

Selam sevgili Deniz,

So many beautiful and intricate details in this shot. The light is just perfect for illuminating these book spines and bringing the best out of them including their colours. I like the best that we can see how much they have been handled and used.
P-S-I-G (25536) 2008-06-17 23:19
So beautiful and precious things.
An excellent tribute to the books.
Very well done.

Hi Deniz! A lot of interest they have externally the books of collection. In a book it measures always his content and what negotiates, but a lot of times drifts also you outside, as in other cases of life. It can you they mislead the externaly beautiful and in internal betrayal.

I agree with Dan, but also can understand the problem in not doing that...it's not easy to decide which way looks best. But what i do like and what impresses me most is the exposure. Light must be terrible there, iso 1600 with a tight 1/15 and as result this work...stunning, absolute stunning. I really like to see such dediaction in making a picture. Other people will pass on, but you had something in mind and did it...respect, because the light on the books is amazing. There must be noise at 100%, but here at TE size it looks wonderful.
You did a great job here....hats off..!!!
manub (920) 2008-06-18 1:15
Beautiful picture of such a great and peaceful place. The geographical and linear composition, only slightly disturbed by a few inclined books, works very well to me.
Also technically very impressive given the poor light conditions.

Ah that's a nice display of ancient wisdom here, the level of detail is great so we can enjoy how elaborate these books are, also their variety of colors and their golden highlights. And always that unique Rigoletto Zizo technique ;-)
Have a nice day JY

Absolutely beautiful. As a book lover I adore this! Any remarks I might have, were answered in the interesting threads that have already been added. This is why I like TE!
bantonbuju (51781) 2008-06-18 3:02
different covers - but the content is still the same, and has been for ages, and thus its value is beyond dimensions...
sometimes we need this sort of "pattern" photography, provided there is a sens behind...like here...
didemay (2945) 2008-06-18 4:29
Deniz Bey Merhaba,
Elinize, gozunuze saglik.
bostankorkulugu (42080) 2008-06-18 6:54
shelves of oriental patterns in vivid colours...
ninaL (21348) 2008-06-18 11:01
A very good idea...
I have ever seen on TE a photo about books...
And what books...;)
Very good work.
Best regards. Grazyna.

Tezic (17867) 2008-06-18 14:02
kadrajdaki simetri ve raflardaki detaylara bayıldım... tebrikler...
jonathan_hart (21274) 2008-06-18 14:43
the object-book can be itself a piece of art, many books can make another piece of art and photographying them can make a great graphic shot :)
tehanu_f (6896) 2008-06-19 1:36

When I saw the thumbnail I thought at first that you captured a bunch of porno-dvd´s.
Now I see that I was wrong. Anyway … as we know this makes no big difference for you.
Interesting shot form that great mosque.
efi (5219) 2008-06-23 0:23
salvator (19102) 2008-06-24 6:02
Nefis netlik, nefis detaylar ve harika renkler. Mucevher gibi islenmis sanki, detaylar harika.
Eline saglik. Selamlar. Salvator.

There is a special attraction of libraries and especially hardback books — whether I can read them or even agree with them. The brilliant colors and sharp resolution makes this image a work of art, for me abstract art.
Warm regards, Deniz.
mphotographies (1976) 2008-06-25 13:15
Each Quran is intricately printed in elaborate fashion. Not only that but the inlays found on the shelves edges are full of details. The written words found inside these scriptures just exudes from inside out. The rich ornamentation I believe have certain meanings, symbols that represents something of reason. I just can't look away, amazing work that is.
Benedict (7076) 2008-07-02 22:31
who would ever thought of taking a foto of these files of Holy Books but someone with the caliber and the eye for beauty?
that's you, Deniz! simply awesome!!
