Photographer’s Note
The ruins of the basilica of Qala'at Samaan are remarkably well preserved given that it was built in the 5th century after Simeon's death. In the center of the picture, which is also the center of the basilica's dome, stands Simeon's pillar, where he supposedly stood, prayed and preached for 40 years.
