Photographer’s Note
Wadi Karakir, in the north west of Saudi Arabia, is one of the secret jewels of this country : this canyon is stuck between a hostile lava plateau and a valley of the hijaz. The surrounding sandstones have been curved by erosion, henca really strange and vetrical shapes in the Wadi.
The picture has been taken in july (55 degrees celsius during the day, 50 degrees during the night...) but water was flowing in the wadi (it is in the middle of the desert !) and reeds and palm trees were growing along the river. A really surprising place.
