Hi friends in TE,
My first posting in 2009 and this image will give some idea of where I have been since November. Some friends here are expecting travelogue from me but unfortunately I did not bring any camera. This image of The Nabawi Mosque was registered with my Nokia 3110c 1.3MP mobile phone. Thanks for viewing and happy belated New Year to friends in TE.
The Mosque of the Prophet (or Prophet's Mosque) ( Arabic: المسجد النبوي ) [IPA /mæsʤıd ænːæbæwı], in Medina, is the second holiest mosque in Islam. It is the final resting place of Muhammad. Masjid al-Haram in Mecca is the holiest mosque; the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem is the third holiest in Islam.
The original mosque was built by Muhammad. Subsequent Islamic rulers greatly expanded and decorated it. The most important feature of the site is the green dome over the center of the mosque, where the tomb of Muhammad is located. It is not exactly known when the green dome was constructed but manuscripsts dating to the early 12th century describe the dome.It is known as the Dome of the Prophet. Early Muslim leaders Abu Bakr and Umar are buried in an adjacent area in the mosque.
The edifice was originally Muhammad's house; he settled there after his Hijra (emigration) to Medina, later building a mosque on the grounds. He himself shared in the heavy work of construction. The original mosque was an open-air building. The basic plan of the building has been adopted in the building of other mosques throughout the world.
The mosque also served as a community center, a court, and a religious school. There was a raised platform for the people who taught the Qur'an.

for a 1.3Mp the quality is very good. The architecture looks really beautiful...I also like to see the mirrored floor. The semi panorama format fits very well in here. Good image to start 2009!
PS: Have a great 2009!

All the best to you and family for the new year.
Very well composed capture of the square in front of mosque to show all the features of the building under a blue sky, in fact cannot ask for a better view than this. Good shot from a cellphone even if there is some blur and noise due to low light. A surprise that all the cameras you have are left at home, as the urge to tag it along is difficult to suppress, although the way I see it, you have plenty of future chances to travel around. Because I think this region's desert is a wonder for photography. A long way from home and it is a path that you must have planned for sometime.

so often very interesting moments and objects in our life are "registered" with very simple devices like mobile phones! At least a phone is always at hand, and I am grateful to those engineers who included a camera in modern cell phones :)
For a cell phone camera it is a very good photo! it looks a little blurry but if you sharpened the image a little it would simply be perfect :)
The photo has a special warm tint, which I like very much... let alone a very good composition which includes all the most important parts of the Mosque.
I wish you all the very best in the New Year! Stay healthy, wealthy and wise :)

Aha, you have quietly sneak back to TE again. Its great to see you back! Hope your trip to Mecca has been a good one.
I can see that even a 1.3 MP phone can produce a good photo in the hands of a good photographer, although the resolutions suffers which is not your fault. The low POV has come out with nice reflection on the floor, and the colours are good under the warm light.

the lovely and barakah mosque is excellently presented. Great weather makes this shot so soft, calm and peaceful.
The path you have taken deeply embedded into our heart and etched in our memory like the brass plate with designs and patterns. so does our live, your deliberate leaving your camera is the self-denial of a first step. The next is to praise the Creator of the beauty of our senses, without which a Nikon that coast RM40K is useless.
Such a beautiful journey, such a lovely shot...we will appreciate more.
If they like your simple intro after hajj, definitely they will like the inner presentation more.
All the best and regards,

Impressive place and good work with a very rudimentary camera, but it did its job.
You were there at the perfect time as the area is well lit and the sun was not at its strongest, giving a warm light.
Just a tilt to correct, otherwise, well done.

For a shot by Nokia it is extraordinary. Interesting architecture with reflection on the floor. You may straighten the tilt of your picture to the left, but otherwise a perfect picture.
