I put the country as Qatar because I've never actually visited Saudi Arabia, so didn't want to put that as the country.

I know this isn't that interesting with only a desert, but I found the colours phenomenal. This is obviously taken from a plane (which almost never turn out). Must have been because I was sitting in first class...(I was upgraded when they double booked my seat, I can't afford it...haha).

Just showing the desert, I actually got pretty good detail in parts, so thought I'd post this to show a part of the world, perhaps very few have seen (though, I've only seen from a plane window).

a great color gradiant from the rich golds to the blue of the sky

Hey,
This photo looks very familiar to me, I've been living in Middle East since 10 years and each time I return from vacation, this is pretty much what I see through the Plane window. But I have never photographed it as yet...
I guess you can add some sharpness to the photo, but well through the window it's never easy! :)

Irina

David -
Great shot - a rare success of a photo from a plane. I think you underestimate it - i this its very interesting, with an epic feel of vast arid terrain.
Regards,
dave.

hello David,

fantastic photo with distinct colors and great contrast. thank you for sharing!

regards,
Igor

I love looking at the detail in the landscape below as I fly; and yours is such a beautiful example of what you can find with the window shades up. I love the lines branching out in all directions and the beautiful orange color. My only suggestion would be to see if you can mask out the streak lines from the window that are pretty obvious just below the white section of sky. Although this is minor.

Hi David. You are right, amazing colours and amazing detail. Well captured and thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi David
this picture is absolutely worthy to be here in TE: it teach us something about appearence of arabic desert.
Therefore it's a great photo, very well taken.
I like the gradient of colours from the gold of the sand to the deep dark blue of the sky, without a clear horizon line.

Hi David,
are you sure this is on planet Earth. It looks more like Mars to me. :-) Great shot of the harsh, but beautiful landscape of the Arabian desert.
Best regards
Andreas

Hi David,

The colours are indeed phenomenal! Wow, this reminds me more of shots taken from space shuttles than from planes! It's great thay you also have some details visible in the vast expanse of sand below. I think the shot is well composed, with the horizon located in a very pleasing part of the frame. Good thing you had your camera ready!

The land looks like it's on fire! The colours are brilliant. I usually don't like desert photos but this one is really unique, especially as it is an aerial view. I like how the landscape gradually fades into nothingness.

Amusing!! Unique!! Keep shooting!!!
