Photographer’s Note
The Damascus Gate is part of the Old City Wall of Jerusalem. This photograph was taken around 2 o'clock in the morning using existing light. During the hours of daylight, this gate is a sea of people selling and buying produce. The relative cleanliness and emptiness of the Damascus Gate makes this photograph unusual, as well as the blue glow seen from the city beyond.

I have visited this place about 15 years ago and still to this date believe that Old City in Jerusalem was the most beautifull place I have seen in my life. This place is like unlike others, combines so much history of different cultures, it felt like I was taken back 2000 thousand years. I remember standing at this gate (or one that looks exactly like this one) and chatting with young Israeli (female) soldiers.
IMO your image has alot of atmoshpere of what I recall it to be when I was there, very well presented. I hope you have more from that area to share with us.

I walk past the gate many times each week, and this is a fresh and memorable view. that's as good a compliment as a photo can get.

Wow what a castle, it looks unreal to me! Perfect time with no people on the picture.
