Photographer’s Note
Seen in the narrow lanes of Old Jerusalem this shop sports the latest in fashionable headwear for the discerning Muslim woman - this is a sight I have yet to see in the UK but I guess it must exist with over 1.5 million Muslims now living here.
The shop window dummies here have a slightly quaint old feel to them but this display seemed quite contemporary despite the ancient surroundings.
This was my first trip to Jerusalem although later we stayed there for a few days - a fascinating city embracing so many cultures.

Hey Kev,
theres something very erie about those heads. The light and the tonality I think works really well to bring them out, they seem to glow and as a result to take on a life of their own, especially in the eyes. Strange, eerie shot.

hi kev,
(i must come back to your yesterday's image, been there few times but its one of these that requires from me some more time :-))
this one though is really a fascinating finding, what strikes me here is the fact that all the faces are identical, they do not differ as if some variation would cause that instead of looking at the clothes the by-passers would admire the faces (which obviously would be inappropriate i guess);
the only "deviation" is the "ramy" brand logo on the right hand side;
superb work,
best j.

Hi Kev,
I'd like to see it cropped to the heads and in colour.
Or another shot at a tight angle looking along the heads with a short focal length
...or even better, with a tight crop, you could put a real head in there with the same headwear :)

I remember the huge debate in France about to allow teenagers to go to school wearing the veil. I guess this is a clear representation of a different world understanding throught something quite commun to all cultures: A shop. It´OK as fas as they choose the way they want to dress. To crop a little bit the left part to get more simmetry? Not very important really, I just wonder about the same spot in color. Take care Kev and keep posting.
