Wahiba Sands lies in the eastern region of Oman. The sands stretch from north to south 180 kilometres, east to west 80 kilometres, with high dunes, extensive woodlands and an unspoiled coastline. Some of the sand dunes are 100 meters in height. Total land area is approximately 12,000 square kilometres with about 3,000 Bedu of varying tribal origins including Janabah, Mawalik, Hikman, Amr and Wahiba.

I was walking around Wahiba Sand dunes sea, starting to think how many more different desert photos I can take, having recently been in 4 different deserts across Arabia. To my surprise in a minute after this thought, strong wind started to blow, creating fantastic new opportunities.

Hola Lucie,

Bravo.

A+

Wow, great shot Lucie! The lighting is just amazing in this, with the ripples and textures of the sand clearly visible, but also the sand being whipped up by the wind. I'm a big fan of minimalism these days, so I really like this composition. Excellent!

Hi Lucie. I like the pattern and the golden colors you captured very much. I just come back from a three week stay in Oman and was very pleased to discover that magical place : amazing nature, a modern world though with a rich history and patrimony. Though, Wahiba was the disappointement of my trip because of the camp I chose. What did you think about Wahiba Sands ?

Gorgeous capture! Love the orange and golden colours, the contrasts and lines.

Was just there in November, brings back very fond memories... can smell and feel the place looking at this image, thanks for taking me back.

Hello Lucie,

I was impressed by your incisive comments in your Intro Page. Now that I see the fruits of your labor, I see indeed that you are a thoughtful photographer. This is a compelling shot, exquisitely composed, flawlessly exposed. There is a surreal element in the patterns created by the high winds whipping up the sand.

Warm regards,

Bulent
