[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
While on a short visit to Oman, I went to the town of Salalah, which is located about 1200 km from Muscat, heading south-west along the coast. Salalah is positioned on the Indian Ocean, therefore is fairly tropical, with tall palms along the beaches. The weather here is very different to Muscat, which as you know is a very hot, desert-like environment.
Salalah is known to have a fair amount of rain, and is often covered by heavy mist which aids to growth of lush vegetation.
This photo was taken at one of the open, non-commercialised beaches....the norm for this quiet town....and here these locals were bringing in their catch with the use of vehicles. Their large fishing net is rowed out along the beach area, and then hauled in by tying the net to two 4 x 4 vehicles, which then pull in the net by reversing the vehicles in a series of manouvres up the beach.
I took this image at sunset, without the use of a filter, but I have adjusted the colour slightly adding some orange to the image.

Good daily life photo Grant. Interesting shot and good note to match. I never made it to Salalah but heard it was really nice and different than Muscat. Good POV and although I'm not a big fan of the orange coloring, but it does work well in the photo. I also like the framing.

Great work.
John

Hello Grant!
Very nice capture! The shining waters and the monochromatic colour is beautiful! The subject is interesting, as your note. TFS!
Regards,
Zeca

Hi Grant - the silhouettes give an authetic view of daily life, and the shimmer of the ocean provides nature's punch, maybe adding that orange wasn't the best idea though...to put what's said above in different words, in my defense I had not read the other comments before writing mine.

Hi Grant. You've caught a wonderful scenary here. The light and the reflections in the water is perfect for this motive, and the photo tells us a fine story of daily life and work. The orange has a good effect on the tone, I agree. Greetings Jens :-)

Hi Grant, i like the atmosphere of this scene and your light management...
a good moment and a good action here..
well done!

ciao!
Valeria
