All the way on the right is the Al Alam Palace and the Palace Banqueting Hall. Next to it is Fort Jalali.

The Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace was build in the 1970s and is the office of Sultan Qaboos, ruler of Oman. Not open to visitors but you can get to the main gate, at the front of the building. Notice the gold and blue pillars.

The Fort, and former prison, was build by the Portuguese in the 16th century. See te link above for more info. We tried to get there from the other side but we didn't succeed, I think it's also off limits for visitors.
