Photographer’s Note
One if the ways in which Muscat is like England is that many of the restaurants are Indian, the difference is that all the other places seem to be equally good and tend to be of various middle eastern traditions, Lebanese probably prevailing. If culinary tourism is your thing, you'd be hard pressed to beat Oman. On the other hand very few of the town restaurants are licenced, so if you want wine with your meal you generally have to go to one of the many 4/5 star hotels, which tend to lack the colour of the places like this one.
I first thought this restaurant in the Ruwi district of Muscat was called rainbow, which was displayed in large colourful letters across the front, I then thought that there must be a very successful chain of these places, since there's loads of them. Finally I discovered that Rainbow is a band of condensed milk that lots of Muscat Indian restaurants promote, so I've no idea what it was called, but it just across the square from the main mosque in Ruwi, and like every Muscat place I tried, really excellent.

This is a great fly's eye view of this busy restaurant, Richard. Where were you, clinging to the ceiling fan?
The unusual point of view works well, and the inclusion of the diner on the left balances out the busy area on the right.
From their dress, and the Urdu writing on the signs, I reckon the restaurant was Pakistani rather than Indian, although I suppose they could have been North Indiam muslims.
Good work.
Cheers,
Ben

one could almost split your image in a diagonal and one would have half of it busy, light, colorful, full of things happening - one man will enter the restaurant, the other is eating yet another is leaving and the cook listens to an order - on the other half, darker tones but the man in red who only observes. same for the others. and the floor, beautiful like a rug, unites and matches the whole scene.
it becomes more interesting as we find the small details. great job!

Oh, nice view from above, Richard. This really gives us this intimate insight into daily life over there. A very fine TE contribution, really first class.
Cheers,
Francis
