Evening view of the fishing port of Mutrah, the most interesting and historic part of greater Muscat. The waterfront here is a great place for an evening stroll. This was probably taken at high tide, I will add a daytime version to workshop which shows it at a lower tide.

Tan I really like the exposure control in this scene. The bright buildings are very nicely rendered full of color and details. Makes a nice contrast with the ripples in the water. Very nice indeed...thanks for sharing!

Hiya Tan, very clear shot, wonderful colours and reflected lighting, superb seaside details, composition wise I feel there is too much water in the shot, otherwise excellent capture!

A nice collection of well lit buildings, looks like Arab Las Vegas but I guess they are not so much in the gaming mood there... I'd crop 3 cms at the bottom to get panoramic. Lovely 1001 nights shapes and colors.
Have a nice day,

A good title, the seaside really looks magical with all those colourful lights. Reflections on water make a nice mix of artifial lights and blue sky.
abulafia (4900) 2006-08-17 6:40
very apropriate title, it does look like something out of 1001 nights.
nice colours and i love the onion shaped buildings.

Absolutely stunnin clarity, colors and sharpness. First I saw the picture and thought: hmmm that looks like some 1001 ... I couldn't finish my thought because I saw your title and it finished my thought for me. Correct choice in choosing the night pic as the primary.

Gorgeous night photo! Beautiful colours and marvelous lights! Fascinating mood and great atmosphere! Super photo, AGAIN!
Thank you, nice days

Wonderful shot! There is something incongruous about these old, traditional buildings being lit up at night with modern electricity, but it is the unusual or unexpected view that always catches our attention - as in this case. Beautiful!

Hi Tan - the night colours are really good (quite a contrast to the daytime version!). Quite a spectacular looking place, because of the lighting used. You've captured it well, with just enough natural light remaining in the sky to add a little contrast & also to leave the hills visible too.

Tan, c'est une belle photo qui nous fait rêver un peu comme DisneyLand, on sent que l'argent du pétrole coule à flot. La réalisation de la photo est excellente et ce n'est pas évident dans le genre de photo.

My goodness...what an amazing shot. I love the foreground rippling water with the lit up city behind it. I also think it's great that the background mountains are showing. The colours and lighting in this shot are fantastic! The day photo is very good too, but I like this one better! Excellent work, Tan!

Wonderful night shot. The colours are very nice and attractive and the lights are great too. The sea looks interesting as well with some fine small reflections. Good work!

When I think of Oman (just like some other Middle eastern countries) I get the idea of a desert with 'desert' colours! but to the contrary of my expectations this is truly colourful and beautiful place. Light is well exposed, not too much and good frame that let the shore line curving across the centre of frame. Well taken shot.

excellent night shot. very clear and sharp image indeed. colours are very vibrant too. tfs.

A dramatic view of this fishing port. I like the rich hue and texture of the water, the myriad of bright and varied lights, and the overall POV. The mountains in the background loom unexpectedly and provide a shadowy and mysterious backdrop. Well captured, Tan. Have a good week.

wow, very interesting picture with beautiful colors and the detail of the mosque. This is an unusual picture of Muscat, the others I have seen are of white buildings taken in the day!
*both versions are interesting in their own ways, I like this one for its uniqueness.

Maybe a little too much water, but a great seashore. The title is really pertinent and enhances the mood of the compo. Good inspiration.

Merhaba - Gece görünümü gündüz görünümünden daha güzel, daha etkileyici. Işıkların, renklerin ve denizdeki yansımaların sonucu olsa gerek. Ellerine sağlık, sevgiler... Ahmet

Hi Tan, Very interesting scenery with the mosques and unusual architecture. Your POV is good. You show us so many places, off the beaten track it is refreshing. Murray.

Hi Tan. Great night photo. You have nailed the exposure spot on and timed it perfectly also to have enough light in the sky to silhouette the hills beyond the town. Thanks for sharing.

Good control of the exposure and the high tide gives a nice foreground.

What a great picture. I didn't know Muscat was like that; a Las Vegas in the Middle-East. Great colors and sharpness. TFS, Gilbert
