Photographer’s Note
Taken in the fish market of Muttrah, an older area of the city of Muscat.
An interesting place to say the least. Oman, in my opinion is a place caught in time. The older, religious, aspects of the country are being tried by the money and "progress" that comes with it. From the home of Sinbad the Sailor to Bedouin in the Wahiba sands and Rub al-Khali. From beautiful beaches to the mountainous interior. From the highways, high rises and malls to thousand year old forts and camel racing. From oil fields to frankincense trees. It is an amazing site to see and a great country to visit.

This is very nicely done, John, with the blue of the person's scarf and shoes catching the eye. I like the angle you've shot this one at- it is very, very effective. Good note, too!

Hi John, I like the composition you have acheived here, with the fish making diagonal lines perpendicular to the diagonal of the man. The blues look a little oversaturated, but certainly catch the eye. I've not been to Oman - how does it compare with Yemen? Cheers, Steve

Hi John,
That is tuna fish, isn't it?! I like the blue in the fish, combined with the blue in the scarf and the flip-flop. Nice one!!

Hi John,
I really like this one, the view from behind and the man not completely in the shot makes for a great composition. I like the fact tht his turban matches the colour on his shoes. And of course the four fish just lying on the pavement is what makes the shot for me.
Regards
Wanda

What a great photo, John. I love the composition, and the blue as it's echoed in the sandals and the fish.
Even though this is in Oman, it's also immediately recognizable for me (just back from my trip in Yemen). Even more so because this fish is what I had for lunch in Al Mukalla where in the shady fish market I didn't manage to get a good shot. Oman is firmly on my "list" now. :)

Hi John,
I like the saturated blue color in the triangle formed by the man’s turban, the sandal and the light reflections in the fish scales. The perspective obtained with the diagonal line is very interesting as well as your close POV. A very well composed image.
Salut,
Andre

This is a great shot of blue.
Scarf, slippers and reflection on the silver skin of the fish.
Excellent PoV and composition.
Well done!
