Photographer’s Note
A few anglers in the harbour of Saida (Sidon) in southern Lebanon. This was in 1995, the civil war was over, reconstruction had taken off, especially in Beirut, and the atmosphere was generally relaxed and optimistic. A brief break in the troubles of this wonderful country.
This was scanned from a Kodachrome slide. There may still be some noise in the sky, but I can assure you there was a lot more before I did my best to clean it up.

Hej Gert,
A very well composed and well balanced picture with those rods and lines at a very attractive angle above the anglers. Very good colours!

Wow, Gert, what marvelous detail from a 13 year old slide. Wonderful light, nice clear color. I really like, too, the way it's divided with the structure the fishermen are on then water, city and sky. Very well composed. And the splash of the wave is a nice touch, too. Really nice shot! Many thanks and kindest regards,
Shelly

Well,
Another great STORY.
I like the scan colours, they create an interesting mood.
And I have a question - on 17th of January we have TE meeting in Krakow, there are planning to be about 15 photographers, including jrj and Isabela Sorescu. Maybe you could join us?
Greetings, Anna

Hi Gert, I spent a couple of weeks in Lebanon around 1998 and struggled to take a decent picture. So I can appreciate this image within that context. The boys are well placed and the colours/sharpness fine. As you say, the post processing in the sky is evident, but as a scanner of old slide, I know the challenges. cheers, Steve

Fishing does go very well with a relaxed atmosphere doesn't it, the shot bespeaks of the great Lebanese spirit...one of moving on.
Nice colors and a balanced exposure. Interesting how you've tagged the shot as 'Daily Life, Ruins' :)
cheers

Gert,
Yet another very nice daily life shot from a far away and unfamiliar place for most of us. You have been around the world through the years. Very good quality for a scan I believe. Good composition and nice light.

Hello Gert
A nice composition with the fishermen and their rods framing the city of Sidon. An interesting daily life scene and another good scan although not as old as some of yours, Tfs, Marlene

Hej Gert,
a very refreshing, lovely scene! Excellent perspective view with the water and houses in the distance.
The place is so much lit by the sun that it looks an extremely hot day! I am impressed by the length of their fishing rods :) I used to go fishing till I was 12 or 13 years old but then I felt pity for fishes and quit this kinda "business".
Kindest regards,
Elena
PS. sorry I have read your discussion with "Gessle" about your book. It would really be interesting to read it :)
