Photographer’s Note
This is of one of our guys doing some target practice in the desert of Kuwait. He is shooting an M4 semi-automatic rifel with an option of 3 round burst that shoots 5.56 mm rounds.

Pictures of occupation forces who responsible about pains of many people are not appreciated.
I will be glad if we could see peaceful pictures or pictures of the victims of wars; because this site is one of few sites on the internet that unite humanity.

I don't understand why you posted this, in stark contrast to the other photos you have put up. Your other photos are great, but why put this one up?

I understand there is some anger in the critiques but images of the Vietnam war now define an era. I am not a fan of any war but TE is about photography and I look forward to more of your work from this troubled region. ps I always wonder how you dont sweat to death in that army suit. Is it hot?

Hi Philip,
I just discovered your gallery and was intrigued by this the thumbnail of this shot so I clicked on it. I was surprised to read the negative comments that you received.
OK, so this is not the usual stuff that you see on TE and it's not as pleasant as a beautiful landscape of portrait, but is it part of life, and was part of YOUR life while you were in Irak so I think you were right to post it here.
Regards, Brigitte

Americans are ridiculous with their war. They take themselves for the masters of the world.
So stupid people

Well, even this is not one of youre greatest photos, I give you one point because I fully sustain the posting of this kind of pictures on the site. The world is not a whole without it's darker side and for the ones who are saying that this kind of compositions are not appreciated should speak for themselves. This kind of photos are first of all a document of an important event in the history. Technicaly, I would have croped about half (or a bit lesser..)of the bottom part of the picture and I would have left more desert landscape in the right side of the composition.

Hey Phil,
Even though I do not agree with your government's foreign policy I would just like to say to you and all of the guys down there to be careful and try to get back home safe. After all they sent you guys there to do a job and I am sure they didn't actually ask you if you want to go or not.
As for your pictures they are all good.
