[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The "Treasury" is everyone's first sight upon emerging from the long Siq (canyon) that leads into the rose-red city of Petra. The stone is many shades of red, with touches of other colours here and there throughout the ruined city. It never fails to impress and one has to wonder what it was really intended to be. The debate among archeologists rages on. It was carved out of the living rock over two thousand years ago and its size defeats the imagination as to how this might have been accomplished.
I was glad to have the two camels there to give some sense of the perspective. I was also glad to have arrived this time (my second visit) when the facade was not struck by the sun's rays. Though it is a more dramatic sight, it is much harder to photograph in that contrasted state.
