Photographer’s Note
Well if you thought my last post to TE was was highly post processed, then you aint seen nothing yet...
Taken in Jordan of a friend climbing up the amazing rock formations at Wadi Rum.
I rencently discovered a program called 'Photomatix' used for blending HDR images together. You can also create a psuedo HDR effect with a single frame (which is what this is) through the tone mapping function. I played with the settings and processed a few versions, then combined them in photoshop to get the exposures how I wanted them. Then, colour work, and more darkening and brighten work (for example in isolatation on the climber).

Well, this is certainly dramatic - that HDR effect worked really well, and you resisted the inclination to overdo it.

David hello,
Thanks for the tips for pseudo HDR effects. It really makes the images look more dramatic. Nice to hear how to do it. Details are great, so the colors.
Maybe perhaps the climber more closer, but great anyway.
TFS!
best regards

Hello David,
You found exactly a moon landscape, this climber know exactly not the risk, a lot of dynamic with the diagonal lines and openings in the rocks wall.
Sharpness and clarity are wonderful.
Composition and presentation are superb. TFS.
Have a nice sunday,
John.

Hi David,
Excellent work making good use of HDR expertly, the rendition of rock that feels round is really interesting. Your friend is also put in the perfect place, and the sky with rich tones looks as if it's an active crater.
Best wishes, Hisashi

Hello David,
Your 'lab' work paid off with an excellent rendering of the detailed tafoni formation, dramatic earth tones and a human for scale.
Good job,
Ray

Hello, David!
The texture of these stones is incredibly beautiful! The inclusion of the man, especially for his red clothes, was great! It is a really good HDR job, the sky is wonderful too! Well done!
