Photographer’s Note
Welcome to Jordan's ancient world wonder sight - the Treasury, at Petra. This building was carved by hand out of the mountainside rock, with stunning precision and artistry. After walking through tall rock chasms known as the Siq, the tomb is suddenly revealed through the rocks when it comes to an end.
I arrived here around 7am, before any other tourists had arrived, so the scene is clear of colourfully clothed people standing in front of it. Also, the light can get very harsh when the sun is up higher causing contrasty shadows over it.

Beautiful shot. It was worth the effort to get there before the tourists. The composition is very nicely framed. Thanks for sharing.

Here is one of my priorities. And, it is high in the list. Beautiful partial view. You added much interest by just showing a bit of the monument. Well done.

Hi David
Fantastic control of light and shadow. The POV through the Siq is excellent. It is hard to fathom that this was carved by hand, so much detail. TFS

I like how your framed it naturally, your timing is perfect to get the right amount of light. i would also consider sharpening it a bit for my taste, but still a brilliant shot and composition. well done David. I like it.

It's a very nice shot. The use of the rocks as frames worked nice and gave (even more!) mysterious atmosphere to the scene. It really worth to be there (and wake up!) so early. Well done.

Hi David,
One of the most spectacular places I have visited in my life.
I have similar shot, but scanned. There are not so many option for composition for this classic treasure, but I miss the golden light of the temple, and also some sharpening. was it cloudy that day.
It is a good work nevertheless.

Hi David
Good choice of a vertical format, in this 'keyhole' view of Petra. I would have moved to the right, slightly. The bottom of the column at left, has been clipped by the fg rock face. Good colour & sharpness, & tfs!

Hello David,
So many people have photographed petra and every sight is a unique one. The framing is quite impressive and the slight vignetting works well here.
Thanks for sharing
