Photographer’s Note
My series from the desert scenery of Wadi Rum wouldn't be complete without a classic shot of a bedouin on a camel (I mean, dromedary ;-) Red sand all over and those impressive mountains that are said to rise up to 800m sheer from the desert floor. Maybe the WS2, showing the cliffs behind me on this picture, gives a better idea of that monumentality.
To the right of this view, about 1km, is located the small village of Rum, right in the heart of Wadi Rum. To the left is everything else - this is like a busy highway in a desert - and all safaris of this touristic place go through this way. I decided to walk under the hot temperatures which made me feel even more like an ant.
This shot was taken late in the morning. During the night it gets chilly but during the day temperatures rise up to more than 30degrees in May and much more in summer time.
Some of you might suggest to crop a bit at the bottom for a more clean FG - I had some doubts and decided to leave it this way but I accept any critic in that matter.
WS1 - alternative picture with two camels going in opposite direction, taken earlier in the morning.
WS2 - complementary view showing the perspective of the canyon and the cliffs behind me on this main post.
-----------------
WADI RUM (From Rough Guide to Jordan book):
One of the most spectacular natural environments in the Middle East, the desert scenery of WADI RUM (pronounced to rhyme with "dumb", not "doom") is a major highlight of a visit to Jordan. The wadi itself is one of a sequence of parallel faults forming valleys in the sandy desert south of the Shara mountains. They are oriented almost perfectly north– south, shaped and characterized by giant granite, basalt and sandstone mountains rising up to 800m sheer from the desert floor. The rocky landscape has been weathered over the millennia into bulbous domes and weird ridges and textures that look like nothing so much as molten candle-wax, but it's the sheer bulk of these mountains that awes – some with vertical, smooth flanks, others scarred and distorted, seemingly dripping and melting under the burning sun. The intervening level corridors of soft red sand only add to the image of the mountains as monumental islands in a dry sea. Split through by networks of canyons and ravines, spanned by naturally formed rock bridges and watered by hidden springs, the mountains offer opportunities galore for scrambling and rock-climbing, where you could walk for hours or days without seeing another soul.
The sunsets are extraordinary; evening coolness after the heat of the day is blissful; the clarity of the desert air helps produce a starry sky of stunning beauty; and the tranquillity of the pitch-dark desert night is simply magical. It's an unforgettable experience.

Hi Ricardo,
These cliffs are truly climbing walls for those who love this sport !!! Especially when we see this verticality on your superb photo WS. In this picture, if there was not the Bedouin on his dromedary, we might think about the planet Mars taking into account the color of sand. A very nice area that you put much value on these three pictures, thank you Ricardo.
With all my friendships and a very good day,

NYC gana.

There is only the sound of the eternal wind&the footsteps of the camel in the desert.
As the red desert is so huge, this makes us feel small. Some Arabic people say "You must love the desert, but never trust it completely." (like woman :P) A perfect shot with classic and splendid Jordan combination.
Congrats Ric :)

Tough choice Ricardo; mainly because I like elements of all three images but they don't all come together on the same image.
Main post:- I like the wider view showing the top of the rocks so we see their height. Ideally I would like to see the Beduin more to the right of the image, so he had more space in front of him, but on the whole he isn't too close to the left. Personally I would have cropped some from the bottom, but it's not a big deal.
WS1:- I prefer the the two camels and they seem to be moving more purposefully. They also have more space in front of them. The light is better and the image clearer, but we can't see the top of the rocks.
WS2:- The light on the rocks and the detail you captured is the best of all three, but the lone person can't compete with the camels.
All-in-all a good trilogy.

A very beautiful desert picture, exactly the way Wadi Rum is.
I find the red colour of the sand so fascinating and also how those rocks rise so suddenly out of that sea of sand.
You used the word 'dromedary'. Perhaps it's important in Portuguese not to speak about a camel when the animal is a dromedary. In my language it is important to use these words in their correct meaning.
I believe in English you can use the word 'camel' for both animals. I'm not sure but I often noticed that most people in desert countries, inhabitants and travelers, always speak about camels and almost never about dromedaries, this while a real camel is only living in a cold desert.
Best regards, Paul

Sabaidie Ricardo,
...and it a red hot photo. really great colors, even though it looks like it really strong light but you did great to captured all details to make this a wonderful image. The color of the sands and the clarity of the mountain is so good it look really close up but not because we can tell from the size of the person and the camel, and the inclusion of them make it complete. Thanks

All three images are fine and your intuition guided you right to post this one as the main post. I've never seen such colour of sand (but I've seen only Indian desert & you've seen 3 deserts already) with the bright tinge of orange. The camel, if I may nitpick should have been to the right of the frame, but even this position doesn't bother me much. Good contrast between the blue sky & the red sand. But I do feel about the crop at the bottom..;-)
Friendly Regards

Talvez a menos interessante seja a do WS1.

Chili can be hot, sizzling hot, and that certainly is the case for this desert as well. Good idea to enhance red, I guess you did it, but it fits well. The sand was reddish, but not that much and the rocks certainly had no red hue. Hahaha, but i still like it, even I would not go that far, as I belief that the picture should be altered only very little. So clearly I can state that the color saturation is as high as the sharpness. Well done
Best regards
Urs
BTW I loke your two cats seen in your profile picture - I like cats in general a lot
