Jordan's Grand Canyon Photo

Photographer’s Note

A kilometre deep, 4km wide and stretching a distance of over 70km from the desert highway to the Dead Sea is the Wadi Mujib Valley. According to the guide books it is often known as “the Grand Canyon of Jordan”. Historically it is significant as marking the border between the Amorites (to the north) and the Moabites (to the south), as mentioned in the Bible. Moses is also believed to have walked along the Wadi Mujib valley.

The road which snakes over the landscape is the King’s Highway, one of Jordan’s three highways connecting the north and south.

This is a stitch from two shots, assembled using Autostitch (thanks Bibi for introducing me to this software!). I’ll post a large version which you can view by clicking on the image.

Bonjour Susana,
splendide panorama. Le format choisi mets bien en valeur la route qui se déroule dans la vallée jusqu'au barrage.
Le panoramique est vraiment un format adapté à beaucoup de situation mais qui impose une vision différente pour le photographe.
La version large rend honneur à ton travail.
Un grand bravo.

Salut Susanna,
C'est vrai que ça ressemble au Grand Canyon. Mais ce qui change ici c'est la route sinueuse et ces lacets qui ressemblent à un serpent noir. Je vois que l'AutoStitch fait des merveilles et la version large est superbe! C'est quoi le barrage que l'on aperçoit au fond de l'image?

Hi Susanna- certainly not a typical view from Jordan, the panorama is quite impressive, excellent stitchwork, it was probably nor possible to get closer to the edge of the precipice to minimise the fg and get the lower hairpin bend in its entirety?
