Update: Last post for a while. I'll be travelling in Spain during September.
Walking inside Wadi gorge close to the dead sea, its imposing walls make one feel like an ant.
Wadi Mujib is a gorge in Jordan which enters the Dead Sea at 410 meters below sea level. The Mujib Reserve of Wadi Mujib is the lowest nature reserve in the world, located in the mountainous landscape to the east of the Dead Sea, approximately 90 km south of Amman.
For much more detailed information about this place and Reserve, see here: Wadi Mujib

Gorgeous warm colors of the stones, refreshed by the green water, and the man who gives the scale.
Well done my dear!

that's an impressive place with those huge pilars rising up. The light is making the different tones and the erosion lines are perfect.

good composition, nice tones, and I'm glad there's a person in the distance for scale.
It looks like a wonderful place to visit.
Thanks for posting.

At first glance this reminded me of Australia, the desert rocks and cliffs. I like the tight scene, the way the rocks have created these shapes and contrasts and also the perspective of having a person in the scene.

I don't like using the ugly word "wow" in my talks. But, frankly speaking, I can easily say a big "wow" to this photo. It looks like a scene from Gulliver's Travels to the Land of the Giants. Veery impressive! Congratulations Ricardinho !

Excellent perspective, POV and the figure gives scale.I also like the tones of the colours.

hello ricardo, love the colours , shap and forms of the cliff faces captured in the shot, how humble it must make one feel walking through such an amazing place, and seeing nature at its best.

What impresses me the most with this picture is excellent light management and perfect composition. The walking man give the scale of the deepness of the canyon.

This is more the kind of nature i would like to shoot, since i make it to the wilderness more often. the most decisive element, the one element that holds the viewer for a few seconds more because he wants to..
the layers and the light and the man, wish he was more obscure and not 'tourist like' but he is the most decisive element..
nice one Ric..

Oi Ricardo ,

Wonderful and terrible, Ricardo! Almost for me... I am just a little claustrophobe, I have to stay on the top of a mountain, not down! So a great image... bravissimo... but this is not for me...I have to climb!
bantonbuju (51733) 2010-09-01 0:58
that place always surprises...
while being there i couldn't help feeling that mankind is just a tiny dust in the earth's environment...

What a great shot and a great DOF as well. Stunning shot indeed - I like it a lot. The color hues are very pleasing. Good to include that person in the BG, helps to understand the dimension. Well done. Thanks for your critique. No wonder that you see products which you have not seen for decades, that is Asia.

Boa ideia teres incluído a pessoa!
Boas férias para vocês :)!

very impressive view. The rocks look so huge here. The person walking in between helps to imaging their size. The wet ground with all the reflections makes an interesting foreground.
pentalopes (465) 2010-09-09 7:48
Bom manuseamento das cores e luz.
POV bem escolhido, bem como o enquadramento e a inclusão do elemento humano.

Good shot from Jordan! This place reminds me way to Petra.
Fine vertical composition! Excellent quality!

You got perfect light for your excellent composed photo. I like addition of the person walking through a gorge. Great sharpness which shows all details of the rocks.
I had traveled to Jordan a few years ago but I didn't get to Wadi gorge.
annjackman (13233) 2010-11-12 9:52
A beautiful image with well controlled light. How good to have just one person, perfectly positioned to give a sense of scale.
celmaleite (4968) 2011-03-31 7:08
Impressionante a imponência dessas paredes naturais.
