Photographer’s Note
On one of many visits to Jerusalem, I had decided to go to Mea Shearim, and see whether I could take a few pictures of this very conservative area. At the beginning it looked as everything was normal, but it didn't take long to realize that people were not happy to see photographers brandishing cameras. More than once I had been politely asked to refrain from taking pictures. I tried to be discreet and take pictures from far. I was perhaps lucky ( Talking photography ) that while I aimed my camera to the man on the left, another man popped inside my frame, and I released the shutter as precisely as I could. I was a bit embarrased and didn't stay too long.

Hi Izzet,
You perfectly captured the essence of mea-Shearim. The (voluntary) poverty, the architectual chaos. look for example at the weird -looking structures on the right. these are additions to the existing buildings, probably driven by the need to provide room for the very large families of the ultra-orthodox jews- sometimes having 10+ children. i personally don't like the sillouhette on the lower right corner- it is too close to the camera and irritates my eye.
Good job for this one.

Hi Izzet... It was a pretty good idea to include to the photo the silhouette of the man in the foreground. And the town is also impressive. Smart compo, no doubt.

Wow Izzet, that looks like one candid shot I'd be pretty worried about, as your note explains, what a great icon view of the place, especailly in the circs.

Hi Izzet - excellent shot showing the living conditions in the neighbourhood, nicely composed with all those typical stairways and hanging clothes. It looks like it was a cloudy winter day, in excellent light conditions. And obviously the two silhouettes of the men make it here. Congratulations, Daniel

fantastic, izzet! i simply love it - shadows of the past still alive! or arent they shadows? or are they just a transformed central and easter europe alive symbols of the tradition, faith, wisdom etc...
love this work here all the way,

I like this a lot! The man moving across the picture is what really makes this different and interesting, because it really conveys the feeling of secrecy or mystery. The second man reinforces the shape, and seems almost to be a shadow from the first (or maybe the one on the right seems like the shadow, even better). Altogether it is a wonderful image.

Merhaba İzzet Bey,
Bir hayli "gizemli" atmosfer yansıtan çok farklı ve dikkat çekici bir kare... Silutler ile kompozisyon yaratma tarzınızın çok farklı bir örneği olmuş...

Olá Izzet, spectacular couple of 'shadows' against the interesting background. Lucky you in spite of the not so welcome place for photography. Love the graphism of the stairs. This is really good!

Hello Izzet Bey,
Very beautifull and proffessional photograph, with the symmetrical and asymmetrical stairs, and the graphics that it forms. The clarity, the pov, the colors are extraordinary. The silouettes are wonderfull. The concise notes back up the photo that sends a clear and vivid explanation of exactly what you wish to explain. All these an on-line photo course, which we benefit daily. Thanks for sharing and for using TE to enable us to see beauties every day.
