After further study...here are some history tips. King Solomon built a magnificent Temple for the Lord to dwell in. (2 Chronicles 3). That temple was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon . Seventy years of captivity followed...later Zerubbabel was responsible for rebuilding it along with Nehemiah according to the decrees of Artaxerxes, Cirus and Darius , kings of Persia. (Read Ezra and Nehemiah if you are a history buff).:) This temple wasn’t as beautiful as the first one. Sixteen years before the birth of Christ Herod expanded the temple, adding an additional sector in the southern end. (This second temple is the one that existed in the time of Christ known as Herod’s Temple).

The wailing or western wall that you usually watch on TV where the Jews are praying wasn’t part of the Temple, but what we don’t normally see is the part where the women are standing on a chair to see what the males are doing on the other side of the fence. lol.

Witaj Manuel!
Very curious place. I like the composition and frame. Good colors. Very impressive picture. Well done.
Nice sunday
Krzysztof

Hi Manuel,
I would love to visit this place. Must be kind of magical. I like your perspective of that place. A nice composition. Funny seeing the women on these chairs observing the men.

Hi Manuel, excellent depth of height you hve captured here. I like your perspective of this place as well as it is a good composition. A bit naughty for the woman to peaking a look at the men dont you think? Well done.

Hi Manuel,
this is a wonderful shot... yes, I particulary enjoyed that lover part of the picture, that you've mentioned in your note, behind the little wall the women looking to the men... That's amazing story telling picture. I like it very much!
Have a nice day,
Tomi

Hi manuel

A superb pov & good repetition, although the focus is a bit soft. The diffused light is excellent. Tfs!

Bonjour Manuel,

Hi Manuel,

Have a nice sunday,

Hola Manuel.

Hi Manuel!
This is a great photo, with a wonderful POV and very interesting composition. The subject itself is very interesting and you have managed to capture the atmosphere of the holy place. There is a small "but" and that's about the WB: I think that the photo "needs" a little bit more "warm" colours. Besides that a great job!

Best regards,
Hercules

Hi Manuel,
This is a great daily life shot. As you say the wailing wall is an image we are used to seeing on TV or in photos (including a number here on TE). There are two things in particular I like in this shot:
1) The sense of scale, the people look tiny next to the huge stone edifice;
2) The humour and 'voyeuristic' quality lent by the women straining to peer over the barrier.
Very good work
Peter

HI Manuel
A very interesting and unique shot which holds the viewer's interest for some time looking at the various people. There are strong diagonals in the composition and lots of textures visible in the wall. Nice work.
Best wishes
Mark

Hello Manuel,
Excellent photo with documentary style. The pov from above is perfect and helps the composition.Colors and light works so well.

Have a nice week,
Thomas

Teresa

Interesting documentary photo; we don't often see this view, especially the women peering over the wall. I'm surprised they don't get into trouble.
Kath

Jacques

Hi Manuel, Excellent capture aided by the history lesson you give which makes it more interesting than seeing folks talking to stones. Murray.

Hello Manuel,
Very interesting shot full of suspense for the womens on the other side:-) I like the POV and the vertical framing.
Well done
Thanks for sharing
Best regards
Vivek

Hi Manuel,
You made a good point. Interesting different POV. It looked like a cafe terrace, but there's no tables. The wall has nice texture. Colour balance seems a bit bluish.

Very good capture Manuel. An interesting viewpoint not shown in photos or magazines on this place. I guess every good woman has to know what her man is doing over on the other side. This whole thing about seperating the males from the females is interesting. I recall some churched I have visited where all the men sit in one side and the ladies on the other. Perhaps some Bible reference to Jesus seperating the sheep from the goats! Who knows. If we have to live together why seperate like this? Tradition! Yes traditions that bind us to live in a way that hinders our lives by living inclosed in a system we want to feel safe in. Oh I could go on and on with this subject..but I will stop there.
Of interesting note is the stain line on the wall from human contact. Above the human contact height is the totall lighter and differnt color of stone. Good shot!

Interesting view Manuel, good note and composition of the image, compliments.
Ciao

Hola hermano

Hi Manuel
Excellent shot. I never knew there was a part were women peered over to see the guys praying. Very well chosen shot and very informative note. Great view also.

Hi Manuel, I like your short version of the story of the Temple(s). Yes I like to read those books of the Bible. And the others too.
And for you to show us the women, segregated like this, wayching the men over the wall, it is a great capture! Good job!
Janice

TheG1 / Amir's comments are correct. This is the outer wall surrounding the Temple.

PS,

Ricardo

In fact, the world did not surrender to too great changes from times of the King Salomon. The tower of Babel is today more powerful than any time. the nicely spied scene, the very good photo about the character not only to generic. The very good realization: the excellent sharpness, the depth of the sharpness, colours and lights.
Best regards,
Jurek

This is a nice photo with a good composition. I had seen some photos of that wall but never with both sections...Very instructive note,Manuel

Bonjour Manuel,

Good shot from the wall not least the inclusion of the divider between males - females.
Unfortunately there still excist religions that differ the value between men and women - too bad.

A lovely and funny moment captured here, Manuel. As I lived in Jerusalem, I have seen this place plenty of times in real life, not on TV, but I still never saw women doing such things there instead of praying, lol. Very human shot:)

Hi Manuel,

what I like is your goal here. You could have very well done the more conventional thing, cut the bottom and shown the usual Jeruslam/Wailing wall scene. And it would have had a nice but rehashed scene. I have not scene the segragation before, its not surprising but what is surprisong is the activity on the women's side. They are not praying.

Hi Manuel, not usual picture, always particular to see that wall, strong of religious mind, your POV is very original and i love the result
congratulations

Hola Manuel:

Bien vista y captada.

Salut,
Enrique

And THAT'S what a TE is all about!!!
This incredibly delightful details.
"The women on the chairs".
You right, Manuel. Thousands of TV reports, gazillions of pictures and this is the first time I see this side of the amazing place.
Bravo man, you just saved the honor and principles of our site.
Killer stuff.

Thankfully yours
g.

PS: This blue hue on the bottom of the picture??

Saludos,
Javier

Though I am not that surprised by this 'other wall' (the one separating women from men), it's true that we don't have usually that view! And that's the value of it. To show us that part of the story. If I wanted to be ironic, I would call it the second wailing wall... You know, for me that kind of separation is not always easy to bear...
Good job from you, Manuel, to bring us that little pearl!
Claire

Sorry for not being there as you offer a great serie of Travel photos... I had a difficult choice as I cannot comment and compliment each one...
This is a very good vertical one on an attractive subject.. The crowd is furnished in front of the celeb wall (well pictured) and you cactc a good action with those in contact with the stones, and thosde awaiting or curious like these looking over the "palissade".
I live this one

hi manuel,

Indeed, no I don't get to see this photo. A photo perfectly suited for TrekEarth showing me a place that I have never been, but hopefully I one day can. Very interesting showing the tall wall, with the men and women separated.

Just excellent.
