Daily life scene in Israel, nowadays.
The white trails show an "Iron-Dome" interception of incoming Fajr M-75 rocket, mid-air encountered and destroyed by a pair of "Tamir" missiles launched from the same location as this battery mounted in 11/2012.
Seconds later a series bangs of a "boom" followed. What is not seen here, are the many birds flying in diff. directions, sensing the tension following the sirens.
It was a 5 heavy rockets barrage launched 16:30 Sunday to different directions around the greater Tel-Aviv area.
No casualties reported, just many rockets-fragments scattered on a wide areas.
Cropped for better composition, could not add any mundane item for a more decent scale.
*** While I was preparing this note, 17:00 sharp, another 4 rockets launched on the Tel-Aviv area, part of some 80 rockets today's so far on Israel.

A sad commentary on the current ongoing conflict. One can only hope things sort themselves out as quickly as possible.
Royaldevon (25884) 2014-07-14 8:25
This is reality!
It is a very tense situation and one that worries everyone. How great it would be if a solution could be found that would suit all parties, so the conflict could end.
I hope you stay safe, my friend.
With kind regards,

I appreciate this documentary photo, and along with your note we can only begin to imagine this nerve-wracking daily life event. Thank you for sharing this, and stay safe.
mesutilgim (79348) 2014-07-14 8:33
Hello dear Ike,
Well thought and shared ! Unfortunately you are living in one of the most turmoiled parts of the World. I can well remember, a discussion I had in the late nineties in Jerusalem with a friend of mine a Jewisch Businessman. e told to me : "Mr Ilgım this area of the World is da damned are. Look, there are names of about 150.000 Prophetes been mentioned in 4 major Books. And the God has sent all of them to this lands. He didn't send any to USA or Germany !
Most probably one of the major reasons is the climatic conditions and the productivity of the people living in those regions.
Anyhow I wish you all the best during next days and pray to the Lord that it shall pass as soon as possible.
And again TFS and focusing our attentions to this fact.

once again, a true life situation depicted here.
Too bad it wasn't true though.
as for the photo, of course it's a job well done.
this photo really does put things into perspective doesn't it. Suddenly my photo and many others seem far less important.
nikkitta (12742) 2014-07-14 10:06

it looks as a dangerous jelly fish, but it's in the sky. What a sad daily picture!
Hope Israel has enough weapons to avoid to be bombed.

Ciao Ike, sad daily life scene, great timing, very well done my friend, ciao Silvio
danos (82655) 2014-07-14 11:19
a really difficult days are these that passing by with the missles to 'fly' over your heads. The 'Iron-Dome' is the best defense system to protect Israel.
A good reportage shot.
ChrisJ (94348) 2014-07-14 13:51
A good minimalist shot with just the blue sky backdrop and the missile trails and the explosion. The closest I have ever experienced to this is a riot in Van, Turkey, where tear gas and water cannon were fired by police. I avoided it as much as I could and got back into my hotel as quick as I safely could, but the tear gas was unpleasant. Hope this madness and the tit for tat responses end soon. Tfs!

You have captured well a daily scene happening in your country. The two white trails are giving a sense of depth to the the scene. Hopefully, the conflict will stop soon. Have a nice day.

Good morning Ike,
Within all of its simplicity, this picture conveys more than we can imagine. No need to include anything more than your notes, as this puts the current situation into a clearer perspective. Sometimes a little says a lot, and this is such the case. Wishing you and yours the very best. Stay safe and take good care.
Friendly wishes from the States,
mcmtanyel (10041) 2014-07-14 22:05
You are turning into quite a photo-journalist. I wish the circumstances were more pleasant for your new found hobby.
My recent trip to Israel has sensitized me to what's going on there. Frankly, if I had not been to Israel I would have said about these recent events, "there they go at each other again" and then thought nothing more of it. But now I am poring over the internet to find out what has happened. I "poke" my high school friend who lives in Tel Aviv with Facebook Messenger every few days to find out how she is doing. I wish I could do more than that, but what can I do? Many statesmen have tried and failed.
I have just read that Hamas has started using drones. That is a new development. I wonder if it means they are getting desperate.
Wishing you and your wife a quiet and uneventful day,
ourania (25508) 2014-07-15 1:58
this picture looks so simple but its subject is striking and evokes the tough and nerve wrecking reality you have to face every day. We see awful and heart breaking photos on the media from the Palestinian side which seems to have no effective defense at all. Innocent lives are risked and sacrificed so easily, politicians seem to have reached a point where they don't even need pretexts and justifications any more. It's so sad, I'm sorry you have to go through the fear and uncertainty on your side too and hope that reason will prevail without more victims, ruins and hatred.
All the best for you and your family, please take care,

NorthernLight (1313) 2014-07-15 12:33
if the situation in your country was not so tragic, sad and dangerous, I would say that the colors harmonize well together and that you have captured this moment perfectly.
So I prefer to say: Take good care of yourself, my friend!
All the best

It is really sad to hear and see such conflict still exist. Nice to know that it was intercepted.
I hope one day, people can leave all that behind and live in peace.
Miguel82 (19336) 2014-07-17 20:02
Very tense atmosphere these days in Israel but also in Ukraine Ike. A journalistic picture showing an interception, a value report about the situation nowadays, informative photo note, regards

I'm sure you been seeing a lot of those lately. A good friend is touring Israel right now and she posted pictures of tanks. I hope she is okay and I hope you are too. TFS.

abmdsudi (38812) 2014-07-18 10:18
Thanks to the narratives illustrating the current situation, fine you are lucky enough to get this real action shot and a great opportunistic capture. I think it's not an easy catch but you are spot on target with seeing that intruding rockets and the smoke trails. I like the feel of motion effect too whilst the deep blue sky makes this so prominent and even more stunning, and your detailed notes adds so much more! Great shot well timed, Congrats.
jmdias (51941) 2014-07-19 7:25
a minimalist and very informative image and note. I liked the visual result. despite the good protection you have this is ever a real menace.
