Hello my friends,
As much as I would like to post a different picture, I felt those pictures (2 WS attached) are related to what is happening in Israel nowadays:
For the last 14 years, the south part of the country, only 60km from Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem, and much shorter distances from many towns and villages, were under constant bombing, mortars attacks and Grad missiles lauched from Gaza with diff. diameter, weights, sizes and ranges, .
What you see is the pure defensive anti-rockets battery. Called "Iron-Dome", see related info. on the Wikipedia page attached , and this is the best answer for the 240 rockets shelled on Israel in the last two days and nights.
Yesterday, my hometown Givatayim was targeted by two rockets – when heard the sirene on, had a 90 sec. interval, than saw from my front window the intercepting missiles, launched from the same location as this pic. showes (taken on the previous violent-round), than following and hit the incoming rockets.
An Israeli invented state-of-the-art "Iron-Dome" system that identifies incoming threat, calculate its precise angle-of-attack route and launch an anti-rocket missile, "Tamir", actualy sometimes a couple of - intercept in higher altitude and destroy the rocket in mid-air.
Cropped side's picture.
Hope for better and calm days, yet - this continuous shelling from our neighbours is a situation, no sovereign entity would accept.

Interesantan tekst o odbrambenom sistemu sa opisom ...
Dobar snimak, kontrast i perspektiva, lepo pokazan raketni siste.
Prijatno vece i mirna noc, sve najbolje.

Good picture, contrast and perspective, nice missile system is shown.
Good evening and peaceful night, all the best.

The wideness of the area is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the détails and the colors of the military equipment. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Would you believe, I heard about it only today. I was at a meeting at school this morning and a friend of mine asked how our Israel trip was and then made the comment he was glad we were back before the incidents started. I asked "Which incidents?" and found out. I have been glued to the news websites on the internet since I came back.
I certainly hope the rockets will stop soon. You, your wife and your country will be in our prayers.

A good photo about the politic situation about your country, well framed and as you write, I hope better and calm days ...

I'm sorry things are so difficult and dangerous again. It's shocking and sad that this picture goes in the "daily life" category, this is hard reality and only a glimpse of what is going around the world today. I feel that these hard situations are intentionally preserved and ignited, it's scary to think that you and your family have to deal with this so often. Thank you for bringing this issue to our awareness in a way that is both documentary and personal.
All the best, take care,

I've heard about the Iron Dome, and it's interesting to actually see the battery. It's just too bad that Israel needs this defense system at all, but it seems to work well. Were you very close when you took these photos? I would think that the government wouldn't want photos taken. I know I've been scolded for taking photos of much less sensitive things here in NYC! Let's hope for things to calm down soon. Stay safe...

Thank for interesting notes.
Excellent sharpness and the overall technical features.

There's a lot that can be said about this picture, but I think there's just as much in personal reflection, not necessarily needing words to express the situation in which this device would be needed. An informative and topical image that depicts a stark daily life aspect in the region, far from the natural beauty and picturesque scenery that we're accustomed to seeing on these pages....but one that is very telling. All the best. Be safe, and may cooler heads ultimately prevail. Take care.

Daily life!!! How can you live in these conditions, with a big threat every second, even with defensive weapon. This "war" lasts too long and it seems that no solution or compromise can be reached.
Some TE members publish the up-to-date football pictures and comment on the Brazil defeat, you post the up-to-date Israel dayly life.

A pity that a country this must use against the attacks of your neighboring country.
These people have nothing learned out of the history, notwithstanding would every one can life on a peaceful way, I know perfect the history I have never troubles in Antwerp with Jewish people.
Your three pictures are good choice on a moment between war and peace.
Colours and sharpness make these picture very attractive.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend, without rockets,

i'm certainly not going to sit here and pretend i know whats really going on over there in Isreal, because I honestly do not.
I wonder if this will ever end? I wonder how do the everyday people feel about this war - meaning is it strictly a politally charged battle or do the peoples of each side feel strongly as well?
personally, I thank god everyday I live in a country like Canada - we are so blessed to live in a state of peace and comfort. There seem to be fewer and fewer countries in today's world than can offer such benefits.
My heart goes out to you Ike, Its so hard to imagine living in such conditions. whether you are close to the military action or far away, it must still be stressful emotionally as i'm sure you have friends, families, and loves one's nearby.
and as Brenda has already pointed out, its amazing to think you were able to get a photo of this Iron Dome without getting into some sort of trouble.
be safe, take care

While getting ready to write this note, I heard on Radio Canada that Tel-Aviv airport had been targeted by a missile.
So I hope, from now on, the Iron Dome will protect your country.
Much interesting poster and note.

Interesting perspective on this system of defense
You have the right to photograph?
God blesh all of you

Am very sorry to see these images and featuring TV, I think this is not going to be solved with violence, but I understand that we must defend ourselves .... in these times, the dialogue should be the solution, it is a situation difficult to understand, for we are out of it.
I hope you find safe, and your family, but you must be living in a very stressful situation to be aware of the sirens.
Certainly the picture is a great shot of news reporting ....
A colorful perfect very natural.
A bright image with optimum clarity.
Enjoy a good weekend.

I was following the bad news from your country, just today It seems they are even worse, made me remember your captures of the port and your morning walks near the sea
What make the post so sad is the chosen category daily life and reading the note,I realized it s happening to you and family, must be a quite stress situation
Hope some solution in a near future, not easy it seems
Take care, stay as safe as you can
The post: Know it but never have seen it before

Hello dear Ike, First of all, I hope you are well and safe. What can I add to these what other people have said already. I can't imagine to live like that, in constant threat that something can happen to my family. And i do not suppose that someone can be used to it. Yesterday I read that the Polish plane going to Tel Aviv was returned on the way because of serious problems. At once I thought about you. Very interesting photo in these circumstances. So such small object can be so effective?? Incredible. Most people hope for better and calm days, but iit should be politicians that want the same.
All the best for you, be strong

A fine journalistic image of the Iron Dome up close.
I am a Pacifist. I was drafted in my youth to go to our Vietnam invasion. I made a written appeal to the head of the Draft Board with an attorney's help that I was a loyal American and I could serve my country in a better way than the Army. I received a last minute reprieve and was picked by a West Point graduate, colonel in WW II, then in the Pentagon to work as a government transportation agent/analyst.
Our hearts go out to you and the Palestinians especially the civilians who pay for the price of military operations. We pray for peace and understanding and a future that all can share and live together.

That is the best defence you can think of and it delivers.I can imagine what fear it must on the minds of people on both the sides for the rockets.Murders for murders.Tit for tat.I wonder how long it will take for peace and no fear for rockets at night.Hope it works out soon for all of you.TFS.
Regards and shalom,

A sad fact of life that if you push someone they are likely to push back. When I lived in Korea is was strange to see triple layers of barbed wire on the (sometimes mined) beaches, facing North Korea, so I can identify with this. Good sharpness and an apt upload. Hope a truce or peace settlement is reached soon. Egypt might be able to help broker a truce as it did last time. Stay safe!

Wünsch dir einen schönen Tag

I thought there was soldiers controlling the machine but here we can see it is something automatic. very nice idea to protect your citizens, anyway I can imagine the damages that the menace causes in the daily life. someone is obligated to stop his work to find safety, and other psychological matters, etc..
You faced so many moments like this and this will be finished. it is so good to live in peace I hope everybody would live this way some day.
NorthernLight (2383) 2014-08-12 3:18
I hear and read often of these installations, but thanks to your photo I now know also how they look.
Too bad that you are not sure without such defenses. I really hope that war and violence someday disappear from the whole world. Unfortunately I am - because
the human nature - very skeptical.
Take care of yourself
berek (43565) 2014-08-16 22:52
I missed this picture while looking at your photographs. people actually do not want no war. But it's a fact of life. was little danger when taking this photo. Thank you for sharing this different picture.

The Iron Dome Battery - an anti-missile defense system, very good invention of your country and you narrated well about the system. Very good image, good contrast and well framing.
I hope better days will come very near future.
