What you see on these two photos (one WS), is the most scadalous dwelling's mega-project ever built in Israel.
The Holyland project case recently resulted in a court indictment of no less than 10 public figures: Former Israel prime-minister Ehud Olmert, the former Jerusalem Mayor, former major bank CEO, along with other known names in Israel's business community and public position's. Pending appeals, they all sentenced to a 3.5 to 7 years jail terms and with heavy fines.
Read this Wikipedia page about the Holyland trial.
Besides the alleged bribery and money laundering involved, there was a substantial and beyond repair damage to the landscape and nature, in one of the most dominating high point in town.
Location on map: 31.757, 35.1885
Side note: The white oblong tanks on roof-tops, are Solar water-heating simple system, use of sun-rays to heat water – an Israeli world-patent from some 60 years ago.

When I read your nota is this part of city not real purely on the ridge.
I thought this is alone for Belgium, but also Israel has this type of people.
Never in my career have I this seen, an architecture on these way.
Also very well depth and perspective picture.
Colours and sharpness make these picture attractive.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,
mirosu (13340) 2014-06-14 2:18
Very interesting story, but don't worry this happens not only in your country. Actually getting worse and worse in many countries. Some people do not have enough.
Beside of this, the photo is very good, nice POV, excellent light and superb details. The contrast against blue sky is perfect.
Very well done.
Wish you a nice weekend.

These buildings clearly define the skyline of the city.
Bribes still seem to happen, in many areas and on high-level.
I really hope that the alleged bribery with the granting of the organization of the world cup to Qatar will be investigated thoroughly and that appropriate action will be taken in case of irregularities.
With your picture you emphasize the importance of the problem and you bring the issue of bribery by high ranked responsibles to our attention.
Best regards, Paul

your picture is sharp, detailed and eloquent, another contribution in the world book of scandals. I'm sure a lot of countries have similar projects, politicians, trials and scars to display. I wonder, as usual, why this hideous project had to reach this irreversible stage before it was stopped. I also wonder if the apartments are inhabited now. The way this complex dominates your tight frame is striking, the contrast between the cement grey, the dark shadows and the blue sky is painful. Excellent presentation, congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,

I do not know if "Holyland" is appropriate anymore; this modern hi-rise development is artistic though for the rectangular floors stacked on top of each other, then the intriguing top floor connecting across.
And the older solar water heaters a good sign for the future and increasing benefits.
Thanks for sharing,
PS: I worked most of my life for the State of California Transportation Department, and as a financial and accounting analyst witnessed numerous corrupt managers. A fought them and sometimes succeeded and sometimes was zapped, but I never gave up and always took the approach that "I worked for the People" not for special interests nor politicians.
siolaw (38274) 2014-06-14 10:34
And it is quite a big project too! Your picture has high resolution with fine light and colours... do not worry, politicians are the same probably everywhere!

The tight frame is putting the building in evidence. The point of view is showing the details and the colors of the architecture of the building. The good luminosity is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day.

una Gerusalemme molto diversa da quella classica, queste geometrie sono molto moderne e le hai sfruttate bene per la tua composizione. La foto attira l'attenzione e le linee verticali sono state poste con molta attenzione nel quadro.

Wow, not something I would have expected to see coming out of Israel, this is quite a spectacle of residential construction. Completely different than the traditional stylings and ancient history that abounds in your country. Much like Lisas recent post, it's a travesty and pity what happens for greed of the almighty money grab. A unique and modern complex, but at what cost to humanity and individual integrity?? Many questions to be answered I'm sure. Thanks for sharing with us this new age facet of the city, and for the learned notes/link to accompany the visual. Enjoy the new day. All the best.
Friendly wishes from Az.,

Greetings from Gatlinburg, Tennessee, the gateway to the Smoky Mountain National Park!
I believe I have seen these buildings. I remember our guide talking about the scandal, too. He was saying he was embarrassed that such prominent figures were involved but proud to live in a country in which such prominent figures could be brought to justice.
PS. My parents' vacation house in Bodrum had the same kind of water heating system. Surprisingly, we could still get warm water long after the sun set.

Voilà une composition très intéressante à propos de l'architecture urbaine, et qui a toute sa place sur le site.
Ce complexe immobilier est presque surréaliste. Un grand merci pour la note très enrichissante.
Très bonne journée.

Hi Mike. I was a few years ago in Jerusalem, but as modern buildings I have not seen then. Yes, the capitals of the world are constantly changing. All is modern and futuristic. I think this photo is a good contribution to TE.
Best rgds, Wolfgang.

I guess that the money should be used to build something more aesthetic and adaptated to the landscape Ike, impressive group of buildings, useful information in your photo note, regards
macjake (55632) 2014-06-16 9:50
well, its refreshing to know that bribes and money dealing goes on all over the world haha
it happens in every country, from 1st world to 3rd world, rich or poor. Some countries and governments just do a better job of hiding it.
as for the subject, its a cool one. Certainly a large project, one with many cooks in the kitchen.
interesting subject and photo, nice to see this side of the Country. thanks for this one

Corruption is everywhere including Las Vegas and ruining people's lives. I don't feel sorry for those who are going to jail, most of them deserve it. Too bad really that ordinary people are affected by them. Nice image to represent greed. Well done, tfs.

Interesantan tekst o arhitekturi sa opisom, lep pogled ...
Dobar radd, lepo pokazana moderna arhitektura i detalji na fasadi, lepe boje.
Covek je postao rob urbane sredine.
Prijatno vece i mirna noc, sve najbolje.
An interesting article on the architecture of the description, nice view ...
Good work, well demonstrated modern architecture and details on the facade, beautiful colors.
The man has become a slave to the urban environment.
Good evening and peaceful night, all the best.

Hi Ike,truly incredible this concrete invasion,i seen something to similar in Turkey and this is a real disaster for the nature and for the panorama too,no comment...just my compliments for the complete work about that with the WS too.Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Technical a very well picture!Composition and presentation make these picture attractive
Didi (56363) 2014-06-19 10:37
Hi Good view on this scandalous project
It's a mistake to build such architecture in a historic old city
Well done for your picture
clic (14746) 2014-06-19 16:28
Despite the "scandal" of money makers, this shot appears at its best because of the rigorous verticals on each side of frame, the finery of grey tones that consequently produces the right exposure of highlights as well as of shaded areas.
Very interesting your side note about hot water tanks; never saw before.
nikkitta (14668) 2014-06-23 12:58
It cached my attention (horrible) before reading your note, not only in your country, it happens all over the world
Arriving at Beijing I saw rows and rows of very high empty buildings, asking what they were for, finally obtained the true answer, politics business
With this good capture you call the attention about this subject
Well done, regards
About solar energy: I posted a photo of it in Tibet, a simple, creative one
jemaflor (83835) 2014-06-23 23:15
Well framed, interesting contrast between all thes ebuidings with the tower and also with these houses on the bottom of the view, good light capture and contrast.
Cricri (105457) 2014-06-29 1:37
Intéressante et une particularité de cette architecture urbaine, un temps idéale qui rend bien les détails sous un ciel un toile de fond, belle présentation un peu différente en WS
Kielia (23405) 2014-07-01 6:13
modern architecture is not my cup of tea but this picture is my cup of tea! It's a very good presentation of the buildings. And the accompanying note is also very interesting. A very good contribution to this site!
jmdias (54615) 2014-07-08 15:31
I liked the architecture and its curious shapes and visual effect. of course the problem is the another side of the project. I hope at least the visual concept of the old town hadn't suffered so much damages.
adores (36295) 2014-07-15 18:29
It doesn't match with the Holy Land at all but unfortunately these cases happen all around the world. At least, they were condemned.
Very good pov, light and colours!
ChrisJ (96792) 2014-07-18 4:57
Another upload I missed when I was on tour. I like the repetition of the buildings at left all with the same height, and the taller tower at right nicely breaking the pattern. Good sharpness, density levels, graphism and saturation. I don't like the crooked politicians and corporations! ps: 'scandalous' in the title. (not 'scadalous'). Easily fixed in edit.
berek (37432) 2014-08-01 21:35
very interesting modern building, looks like a big castle. I do not like the similar structures. In these days of huge construction-in istanbul There are similar. Istanbul's historical view disappears ;-(
maria-v1981 (10814) 2014-08-11 12:52
Your shot from here is spectacular. The facades are bright and superbly detailed. The contrast with that deep blue sky is great and lets the buildings impose their beauty and majesty. The lighting is really fantastic here. Very impressive and effective. Fine, complete and very interesting and useful notes too. You really did a great job on this place.
Have a nice evening,
swapankumarroy (2837) 2014-08-15 7:25
