Photographer’s Note
Same rainy day as in my previous shot, but with a bit of sunlight escaping from a break in the heavy rainclouds. I was amazed by all the different walls in various stages of collapse. Not sure which part belong to which historical era, but one thing is undeniable and that is the antiquity of the place.
The sun is shining upon the Jewish cemetery on the upper right where I was told the faithful are buried facing the direction from which the Messiah is to come one day.

You are doing a superb work reviving your old work. I have done the same. It is a time consuming task but I believe it is worth. Your photo is very good and we can see the Jewish Cemetery on the Mount of Olives which is also on the right hand side of my picture. Well done.

Hello Klaudio,
A superb shot, a walk down memory lane, so to speak. During the 70's my coauthor, a professor of (theoretical) physics at the Technion in Haifa and I would visit Jerusalem, after most of our own work was completed. I remember walking down the hill where the Jewish cemetery was located, approaching the old city from that direction, and seeing the archaeological excavations taking in a remote area. i believe, the dome belongs to Mosque of Omar. But what I like best here is the classic presentation of an arch, with its critical keystone.
Warm regards,

Klaudio, before I forget (when it drifts off your intro page) I must say that you have kindled my interest in getting out my box of very old slides and that thingy that came with the scanner, and doing something like this. This has turned out remarkably well - superior I think to the previous one. The light is better, of course. Even in those distant days you could compose a photo superbly. I like the way you managed to bring out a lot of detail in the shadowy foreground and on the arch, and the impressive buildings on the far hill really give the picture a great depth. Hard to believe you scanned this from an old slide.
Regards,
Andrew

Beautiful scan and you surely have captured the dilapidated condition of the walls and the fine grain of the slide lends authenticity of the age of the picture.
Thanks for sharing
