Photographer’s Note
One of the few fights I witnessed amongst young boys in the Old City....sometimes outright bullying and aggression, sometimes an escalated argument, sometimes rough and tumble play getting more seriously out of hand......my attempts at stopping the first two fights were less effective than I might have hoped....even booming HALLAS! at the top of my voice.....but both times it attracted other adult attention who pulled the combatants apart and constrained them......this picture of a third fight just tipping over from play into something else was defused by this moment captured by my camera - as you can see I was very close - suddenly the camera became a more important attraction than the fight....at least for the guy with the stranglehold......a second later and it was all smiles!

Hi Kev!
You can still find time for the old TE business, and this is most amazing when the photographer is overbusy you!
As a veteran pedagogist, your observations on the children of the "fighting lands" mean somethings. Actually, fighting is in the nature of men, we have it written on our genes, but the future of nations and their societies mainly rely on how the adults educate their little minds on the issue of fighting.
Good reportage with the kids, and a thoughtful note.
Cheers,
Deniz
ps: today i've been granted a 6 month business visa for UK. will be in Scotland between Sept. 5th-13th. If i can collect some funds during the following autumn/winter months, i might consider enjoying an extended weekend around London :)

hello kev,
this is very good bw. all necessary details are visible. it is visible that your camera was more interesting than fighting, for kids.
warm regards,
omer

Somehow I'm really happy to notice that you begin your "Israeli" series Kev. This is one of the most tempting sites I've visited ever, full of contradictions, boiling over with joy, hate, prejudices, youth, orthodoxy.. such an outstanding opportunity to make unusual photo-journey for such as skillful life-catcher as you are..
So, I am looking forward to receiving an every day Israeli post from you via TE, now:)
with regards, Agn.
