Photographer's Note
Taken during "Birkat Hachama" (Blessing of the sun) in Bnei Brak, Israel. "Birkat Hachama" is a very special prayer taken once every 28 years, when the sun is exactly in the same position it was when the universe was born. It is believed that this is the date the Massiach will come on that date. This year (2009) it also happened on Passover and it's only the third time in History it happens (passover night with the location of the sun). It was a very special event.
This picture is taken on a terrace, where the women and small children saw the event. It is forbidden for them to be with the men at the prayer.

Good capture of these sunbeams, quite relevant considering the note. I hope you didn't have to dress as a woman to be there...

Hello Gilad,
I like the mystical lighting and atmosphere in this photo. It is wonderful how the two children are facing the camera, while the women are all looking away. Great choice of B/W, too.

Hello Gilad,
I do really like how they look straight into THE LIGHT :-).
Just the children's curiosity made that they could not keep their focus on the divine things happening behind them, making a great photograph!

Hi Gilad,
I feel like looking at an antique photograph... Like an image aged through years while it was hidden in a chest with other memoirs...
Harsh light over the people, grains, curious look of kids, b&w, it is so perfect!
Best wishes,
Burcu

Hi Gilad,
striking image, with a superb timeless quality. The light is divine certainly in the photographical sense:-). Harsh and yet diffused, glowing. And the children's curious looks, their turning from the still standing women, gives a great strength to the whole and, I hope you don't mind, even a humorous sense. Even if the Messiah won't come, they are representing hope, for sure. Superb.

Hi Gilad,
I loved the effect of light here. Also it is very impressive to see the two little one loking among others. Your eyes made this ordinary view meaningful. cheers
