[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
These ball-shaped doughnuts are called "sufganiot" (which can be loosely translated as "sponges"), due to their internal texture.

They are deep-fried and then the filling (usually some kind of jelly or custard) is injected, then topped with powdered sugar.

Generally eaten in December, in the period leading to the "Hannuka" holidays, as in the case.

It looks like that they have some common past with the Polish "paczki" and German "berliners".

The location of the shot is just outside the Machane Yehuda market in central Jerusalem, the blue hour was about 4:30 pm that December day, just 10 days before Hannuka, according to the full moon up there.

Hello Daniel,
I love those Arabic or Jew or mix of both dough nuts, they look nice and hot! I wonder if they taste as great as they look. You have managed the lighting well. Great work.
Regards, Ramy.

Hi Daniel,
they certainly look better than you describe them. You used the light very well here in this smart composition with the moon just included.
Regards, Gerrit

Hi Daniel. maybe I'm just getting hungry, but I like the way the sponges stand out in your shot. Good light management. Regards, Yvonne

Hi Daniel,
Why did you have to remind me of Hannuka donuts? It only makes a long wait longer for when they appear again (though it does seem to get earlier every year :-) )An interesting perspective and there is maybe a slight illusion that the moon is illuminating them.....nice effect. I reckon you took a bite out of that one at the front....no?
Regards, David
