My Intro to Israel, Day 3, Scene 3
Qumran site was built on a raised marlstone hill 70 m above the level of the Dead Sea, which is about 1km to the east. The site is 325 m under the sea level. The hills of the Judean desert are located on its western side. It is located on the path of ancient routes - a strategic mountain pass westwards to Hebron via the Qumran brook, and the southern coastal road along the Dead Sea.
This is a close up of the Judean Hills in the west. It looks like it is a popular place for rock climbers.

A fantastic desert scenery, two hikers through the rocks, and its contourlines, wonderfully collected.
Bright daylight enhanced every curve on those rocks.
Fine photojob done.

My first reaction was that these rocks looked like an abstract painting. Then I saw the two persons near the bottom and my eyes adjusted themselves to the dimensions and the shapes. They gave you a fine composition. This is an interesting photo to watch, but I doubt that I would like to explore this area myself.

Those two lonely figures give a true sense of scale to the fascinating landscape that is Qumran. Amazing rock formations and colors that covers large parts of the Negev desert.
have a great sunday

Hello Murat, Interesting desert scenery. Sheer rocks and only living being are these two climbers. Ah, but no, it is something green on the right side. We see nostrils, how lion looks like? Nice colours of the rocks. Maybe there are some other treasures there and these climbers hope to find them.
Warm regrads Malgo

Excellent description, beautiful shapes and mass of textures of this rock formation when the perspective really could have been any scale but the climbers tell it all. A really wonderful nature shot, exquisite exposure and colours rendition. Very well done closed shot, Congrats

O.K., I've squinted my eyes and tried everything else I can think of to make out a lion from this composition...but I just can't see it!? What I do see however, is a great composition just the same. I love how the frame is completely filled, essentially in an abstract manner, but we still have two human figures to help understand the scene and get a feel for the dimension of these rocks. That poor little green bush looks mighty lonely though, over there all by itself. :) A neat look into the landscape. Bright, well focused and detailed. Enjoy the rest of the evening. Take it easy.
