A morning tour to Jerusalem started with the view from the Haas Promenade. This panoramic viewpoint offers a sweeping sight of east part of Jerusalem, overlooking the Old City, including Mount Zion, the Old-city walls, domes and towers, the Temple Mount, and City of David.
To the far-upper left, is the modern Jerusalem, first built out-of the old town walls in the mid 19th century.
The view due north from the promenade is on a high point, near the UN today's headquarters, that was the residence and office of the High-Commissioner during the British Mandate, ended in 1948.
More picture from Jerusalem, yet to be posted.
A 16:9 aspect ratio, RAW converted into JPEG.
25°C and light wind on a bright day, -1/3 exp. Bias.
The promenade on map: 31.7546, 35.232

this view is spectacular and very interesting. I like very much how you've almost filled the frame with this comprehensive view of the city, spread across the landscape. We can study the city character thoroughly, details are clear and precise. The depth is superb and the clear blue sky provides a very agreeable contrast to the amazing density of details in the cityscape. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,

Hello Ike, very good photograph of this beautiful and interesting view of the city, (seems to lack a bit of urban planning), nicely captured in this interesting image, with good sharpness, nice light, color and good quality. Very good and interesting job well done, congratulations my friend. Thanks for sharing this beautiful work.
Good night and good Sunday.
Best wishes from southern Spain.

You're capturing well thid cityscape by a good angle and very excllent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the dense residential area and a lot of buildings on the hill in Jerusalem. We can see old and new architectures at upper left as you note. It is visible to complicated geographical feature here.

A beautiful panorama picture of a city full of history.
The photo shows well the height differences in the town and the various districts.
Beautifully with the ancient wall and with the view of the golden dome in front of the modern highrise.
Best regards, Paul

The wideness of the city is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the the different buildings which are part of the city. The good luminosity is giving nice tints to the colors. Have a nice day.

bella panoramica, molte le cose da osservare.
C'è una bella profondità e, nonostante la luce sia molto forte, le ombre creano un'ottimo effetto tridimensionale.

I want me apologize for the three Israeli people that are killed in Brussel, yesterday in the Israëli museum, by whom, and why, I don't know!!!
Jerusalem the old city, but exactly a new city with all these modern houses.
A wonderful panoramic view about these area.
Composition and presentation be superb.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice day,

Excellent bird eye view of famous Jerusalem. I like the you have included beautiful golden roof mosque. I was here (almost the same spot) in April 1972, but I believe that Jerusalem was smaller that time. That time I luckily escaped from the shooting at BG airport in TA (lucky man).

Good Morning Ike,
What an interesting view of this famous, historic city. There are so many details to absorb; it's almost like a 3D map.
For me, it still seems to have a sense of history, not too many tall skyscrapers but a whole mixture of different sized buildings, open spaces, ancient walls and religious buildings.
You have managed to keep a fine sharpness despite the great depth.
Have a great day,

Hello Ike, I remember when I saw Jerusalem from Olive Mount, it was for me one of the most beautiful views I ever saw (and I saw a lot :)). But it was more to the right, I suppose. But this panorama is very interesting, showing old and new.
Did you went to Jerusalem with a tour???

Great Pov, showing us a portion of this fine World renowned City Jerusalem.
Splendid to view all the fine buildings and churches.
As you point out we can see the Modern and old parts of the City.

your country has so much to offer and I have been toying with the idea of visiting it for some time already. The land which has witnessed so many important events in the history must be fascinating. I love this panorama of Jerusalem which combines the old with the new. Good choice of POV allows wide view and very good sharpness lets us enjoy the details of the cityscape right up to the horizon.
Thanks for sharing

Nice overlook on Jerusalem.
Since I couldn't tell the difference between the New and Old City, I just made a virtual visit to the Old City, but couldn't see much because the yellow 'walker' of Google Earth doesn't move fast enough in such a busy town; nevertheless I could see a narrow old street that looked like a 'souk' for selling miscellanies.
I think I should go in person!

breathtaking panorama, although with shame I must admit that I recognize only the mosque with golden dome. I am glad that you decided to show us this amazing city. There is so much history in there! And for some reason it is not a frequent guest on TE. I dream about visiting it someday, at least I can enjoy it in your photos for now.
jcpix (11058) 2014-05-28 19:42
A view over the city which I've haven't seen until now...which is a pity, because it's a beauty! This really doe's show the vast expanse and how it sits along the landscape. I always enjoy these wide open type of vistas, helping to better visualize an understand a cities layout. Looks to have been another bright, sun filled day...can't ask for much more to better showcase this impressive vantage point. Great clarity, focus and detail throughout. Thanks for sharing this perspective. have a great day ahead. All the best.

I'm so glad you are in Jerusalem, it has been a dream of mine to see this precious city, so until I win the lottery, I rely on you to show it to me. The POV you obtained, high above the city is awe-inspiring. The mix of old and new is intriguing and I love the golden colours that dominate the hill side. Excellent work, thanks for sharing. I've been away from TE due to work commitments and my mum, but it's good to be back!
Didi (54727) 2014-05-31 8:45

Now a familiar sight, immortally etched in my brain rendered beautifully. The newer sections of Jerusalem reminded me a bit of Ankara, although Ankara is not that beautiful.
Kielia (22913) 2014-06-19 8:10
what an interesting view! You have captured this wonderful city excellently. The light is fantastic and the composition is excellent. A great capture in the best spirit of this site. My compliments!
