My Intro to Israel, Day 7, Scene 4
After the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, we were taken to near the Hagia Maria Sion Abbey on Mount Zion where King Davids tomb is supposedly located. The tomb in question is located in a corner of a room situated on the ground floor remains of the former Hagia Zion, an ancient house of worship. The upper floor of the same building has traditionally been viewed as the Cenacle of Jesus (also known as the Upper Room).
Our guide did not seem to believe the allegation that this was in fact King Davids tomb and was of the opinion that it was some Moslems tomb. According to Wikipedia, the site was not associated with King David until the 12th century. Considering the Bible claims David was actually buried within the City of David together with his forefathers (1 Kings 2:10), I tend to agree with our guide.
Here we see a devout Jew praying by the sarcophagus.
Sözde Kral Davud'un Mezarı
İsraile Önsözüm, Gün 7, Sahne 4
Gallicantuda Az.

Hmmm, what to believe...what to believe?? Regardless of its veracity, it's an intriguing shot. Great that you included the gentleman on the right, it could have easily been a rather static result otherwise, but really ties one subject with the other in a fine manner. Interesting lighting too, the green tint plays a strange role here, projecting an almost "club-like" element. (Hope that doesn't sound too sacrilegious!? :o) Enjoy the new week. Take it easy.

Hello Murat, So finally you cam to Jerusalem :). Nice presetation of this interesting place. I was not convinced that these sacred places were what they supposed to be. Nice inclusion of the praying man.
I was in two places where Maria died - in Jerusalem and in Turkey. And they both are recognized by the church as such.

I have seen Jesus' tomb in Srinagar, Kashmir, and I tend to doubt that legend too :-). I think there could be a profit to be made from having a saint buried in your neighborhood. But never mind the facts, this is a good photo thanks to the interesting colors, the many fine details and of course the praying man. His inclusion was a necessity.

Nice taken the indoor's shot, and a common scene indoor's whatever time you might enter there.
