Photographer’s Note
Matkot (מטקות) meaning beach tennis (lit. "rackets") is said to be Israel's unofficial national sport. It is, so far as I've seen, a non-competitive game played among friends. I watched it several times from the Tel Aviv beach promenade, waiting for the elements to line themselves up into a photo like this one.
Technical: Sharpening in RAW, minor Levels work in CS3.

I just love the glitter on the water when taking shots into the sun. To get the exposure right, inevitably the person is in silhouette, but that suits the image. Good timing to catch him off the ground. Only niggle is the horizon is not quite level.

Hi Dan
Nicely caught. The silhouette works well here. At first I wondered what was in the water just above his head then I realized it was the ball. Well done. I would be interested to know why you sharpen in RAW then convert to the small jpeg required by TE? Do you sharpen again before you post?

The kind of photo that I like (to take)... good speed to deal with the light, and also to freeze the player (and the ball)... You caught him at the precise moment, on the air... Clever compo, with the inclusion of the attractive shadow, and the sky strip up there balancing the sand strip on bottom... Lovely metallic sea...

The glimmering light on the ocean is very beautiful and mesmerizing. the silhouette of the boy slightly bouncing off the sandy beach with his hand extended to catch the all as it's decent is very elegant, almost like a dance, his shadow emphasizes the elegance. I like it simple and uncluttered composition. It creates a spirit of carefree, innocent and joy and youthfulness. thanks Dan.

Hi Dan,
Very imaginative capture of the silhouetted with the striking shadow and silver sea glimmer all the way to the horizon.

Difficult light Dan , stil an interesting result by the inclusion of this person in the lower part. Kind of "action" shot that works to the best in the overall result
