A Kestrel was hovering over an object in an open field, like standing in the air, extracting a full zoom to take it's special technique doing this.
Many times I saw kestrels hovering at distance, but this time it was very close, relatively speaking.
The tail used as a rudder to balance its body on air, in the attached picture from long ago, the tail shown in an upwards view.

you are offering us a delightful scene and a chance to realize how an image that looks austere and simple can be derived from a difficult and lucky capture. I like very much the graceful movement of the bird and the way you placed it in the frame. Sharpness is great and the colours are lovely. The empty space looks delightful and meaningful. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,

Good morning Ike,
nice the view as the flight of the kestrel,on the sky of Tel Aviv with the quality of the photo to be supeb. The decisive moment is the shot with the horizontial opening of the wings, making the scene even more effective.
Have agood weekend,Danos

The bird is well placed in the frame. The point of view is showin g the details and the colors of the Kestrel in flight. The good luminosity is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Aeronautical engineering spent billions in imitation of
those graceful behaviors while birds perform the latters for free, instinctively!
Nice shot of this soaring bird that exhibits its predator skills.

I've tried to capture birds in flight, but just can't seem to get it right...so I admire a shot like this which is not easy to accomplish, at least for someone like me. :) You captured this bird at a prime moment with wings spread wide and fanned out tail feathers to express its beauty in action. Thanks for including your previous pictures too, bringing together the many details and facets of this particular species. Enjoy the new week. Take good care.

Shalom Ike. A small and graceful bird of prey with delicate markings and lovely soft colours. In the mediaeval times it was only the low classes that could keep such birds for falconry and it was a crime for such people to own a falcon. Regards. Klaudio.

I had a similar chance many decades ago, but my camera was a poor simple one and the result was like a point against the blue. very nice view of the bird in a back position and in flight.
