Wow, Yitzhak! This is typcially you, a feast of shapes and forms, a graphic piece of art. Excellent and well thought out in details, colour and composition. The light and shadows are excellent aswell.
You've got "the eye".
Artistic and professional. Very, very well seen and captured.
Aegean (2571) 2004-11-12 7:55
The mixture of light and shadows, the framing, the muted colors, the lines...every ellement works together to create this excellent composition Yitzhak...For sure one of your best!
lucinka (9976) 2004-11-12 7:55
Excellent way how to turn something ordinary into art. Nice play of shadows. Composition is just fine :) L.
Cool-ice (5289) 2004-11-12 7:57
I already tried to make this kind of photo and the result was very deceiving.
Here you have "the thing", the perfect light, the composition, and your image is exceptional.
One detail : personally, I would have placed the beginning of the banister just in the bottom-left corner.
Great Yitzhak, really great !!!
dom_inik_m (1717) 2004-11-12 7:59
Simply great, Yitzhak! What else could I add? ;-)
The zigzagging line is especially mesmerizing...
A wonderful asset to the Exploring shapes and colours theme, if you wish to add it.
More to come, I hope!
elihesamian (26149) 2004-11-12 8:00
An Excellent playing with lines, light, shadows with a beautiful brownish harmony and a fine contrast,...more than everything,it Perfectlly digonal composed,Congratulation,Yitzhak.
It's an admirable artistic work.
Darren (6823) 2004-11-12 8:16
This is really good Yitzhak. Great use of a very strong diagonal and good work with the shadows too, of course. I really like how the shadows are pretty much seemless with the stairs themselves.
pezb (166) 2004-11-12 8:18
looking @ the thumbnail i thought it was a close up of a spine on the leaf of a fern!!
what a fantastic chot. well spotted!
jhm (157854) 2004-11-12 8:38
The much perspective shadow lines on the wall, excellent and well thought out in details, I like of the curving beneath of the stairs shadows. Vice composition Yitzhak.
eleparc (24063) 2004-11-12 8:56
great graphic shot for me yitzhak!! perfect shadows and compo.. bravo!!
ChrisJ (117197) 2004-11-12 9:09
I like the graphism, geometric patterns, textures & repetition in this unusual image. Well done!
Hughes (84) 2004-11-12 10:55
What a fantastic complex geometric shadow from such a simple form such as stairs. I like the way the shadow blends into the actual stairs and that you really have to look for them.
dkeus31 (27735) 2004-11-12 11:08
Very nice graphism and colors.
An art picture.
carper (96) 2004-11-12 12:57
Fantastic photo Yitzhak,
The line the colours the shadow it's all there and the frame is also nice, well this is great photo, with compliments
michel_r (1118) 2004-11-12 13:34
Excellent again Yitzhak, you really are an artist at capturing/extracting this graphisnm out of the everyday life. Is this from your engineering background? In any case, very impresive talent and portfolio.
nwoehnl (122) 2004-11-12 13:36
Strong work in this one, Itzik - a very well spotted graphism that excels in the combination of the strict diagonals and verticals of the stairs, and the bending shape into which the shadows are converging. Very good. I guess shooting only the shadows might yield another spectacular result.
Hanssie (10886) 2004-11-12 15:23
Nice, nice, nice !
The only stairs and the beautiful shadows created, it's....nice !
efimoore (2126) 2004-11-12 16:52
Nice abstract composition. Lovely games of shadow and light. Interesting to see such an artistic shot out of a fuel tank…
maphoto (8082) 2004-11-12 17:46
Wow very nice and creative shop with strong graphic, great lines also. beautiful details, excellent composition, well done.
manny (21833) 2004-11-13 0:11
Excellent graphism... I especially like how the shadows merged wioth the real stairs. Good composition too.
PLD_images (7149) 2004-11-13 6:30
Very nicely done. Again you have managed to make an everyday thing into a fine photograph. I like the how the colors go from light to very dark and the long shadow of the stairs. The tight cropping is excellent.
So I am not alone that goes back to film...
jp80 (8443) 2004-11-13 6:31
Very graphical one Yitzhak. I love this shot, the shapes are so nice. Crop is good too. Thanks for sharing such a pic ! Pity it wasn't a little bit more sharpned.
nima (658) 2004-11-13 16:22
this is great!
good work Yitzhak. Fantastic photo. playing with light, shadows and lines.
it is also well composed. the colors are soft and overall contract is so nice.
thanx for sharing your work.
sunny (3069) 2004-11-13 16:31
Wow! Great grapgism with strong diagonals and finely managed light, Yitzhak! Couldn't imagine a fuel tank could look so gorgeous you know...;-)) The colours match it wonderfully. Excellent job and again a sharp eye!
Kenny10pin (19301) 2004-11-13 18:02
very nice capture, the patterns here are really good, but it is a little blurry, but it doesnt affect the final result, good work
fredon (5052) 2004-11-14 10:56
Wow! What a concept! You chose here a perfect frame with these spectacular shadows.
A great art work!
oochappan (16173) 2004-11-14 13:54
Strong graphic and warm coloring Yitshak, and a good sharp soft finishing of this scan.
btw how do you like Fuji ?
femkevdh (2633) 2004-11-15 11:19
fuel tank??? Are you sure? Anyhow, fantaaaaastic capture of the staircase and its shadows. Incredible sharpness, incredibly well composed. Great job!
cgrindahl (6113) 2004-11-16 3:10
Wonderful Yitzhak! This is certainly a variation on a theme, since this subject has been treated a number of times before. Yet the dramatic shadow you've captured makes this distinctive, to the point, in fact, that I must add it to my rather short list of favorites. Bravo!
I might have brought the diagonal to the corner, and would have experimented with a bit more contrast, but the shadows take my breath away. Fine work.
jrj (34843) 2004-11-16 3:53
Creative compo, very effectful patterns - a fine play of shades and patterns. A fine contribution in your industrial series,
...and glad you had that little rusty 'touch' there..
joseelias (0) 2004-11-17 8:36
Great graphical/industrial photo Yitzhak! The tones are excelente and the play with the light/shades and straight lines vs curved lines fantastic!
RGatward (20086) 2004-11-17 8:41
You 'found', just lying about in the street :-) Very distinctive shot in your usual style, nice pattern made by the stairs.
ishai (4097) 2004-11-18 12:48
What a nice shadow Yitzhak
When I saw it for the first time it reminded me of my shoot
The colors and the shadows effect are very good
Rinie_Hoff (9340) 2004-11-18 19:07
Hi Yitzhak, I browsed your gallery for gems like these ;-) I remembered suddenly that I had seen such a beauty, and no time to comment. I hate it, either not enough time, or too inproductive.
This is you at your best, with great eye for line and shadows. I have not read the other comments, and I'm probably not original anymore after so many smileys, but it reminds me soo much of the inner of a concerto piano, you know which one I mean , I guess, don't know the english word for it. But the lines and the shadows are so beautiful, and the form they make together, it's SO well seen!
Georges (11185) 2004-11-19 13:46
Toujours ce coup d'oeil qui vous est propre et très intéressant que de voir vos cliché ou l'abstrait et le concret se maris a merveille Yitzhak bravo pour cette réalisation
scalerman (26900) 2004-11-19 16:57
of all the photographers on TE, perhaps you have done more with abstracts and stills than anyone else. What about TL?
Didi (60590) 2004-11-20 7:07
Très bonne composition abstraite.
Le fait de fixer le sujet pendant quelques instants donne des sensations étranges à mes yeux.
Very good abstract composition. The fact of fixing the subject during a few moments gives strange feelings in my eyes.
IanSewell (579) 2004-11-27 2:19
Fantastic. It's photos like this that inspire me to improve my photography, and look beyond the postcard shots I usually take.
To create a beautiful photo from something so mundane and ordinary as a fuel tank takes a real talent. Thanks for sharing! Now I'm off to explore your other photos...
aznegrao (10316) 2004-11-28 13:15
Gosto muito dos padrões que voce cria Yitzhak, e muito agradavel ficar apreciando. Esse e um espetaculo de cores, sombras, linhas e texturas. Parabens.
swallace (980) 2004-11-30 13:06
How are you? I've been out of the loop for awhile. You did a fabulous, remarkable job on this one. I can picture this on the cover of a magazine or a book. Absolutely beautiful. I'd give you more than 2 points if I could :-)
Xalkida (11744) 2004-12-02 6:54
Great shapes from the shadows of this stair! Excellent job!
sayzey (2358) 2004-12-04 21:11
This photo really gives me a good feeling, very good colours, looks as though it was a beautiful morning! I love the curving shadow you have managed to capture.
Such a simple image, such a great effect.
zto (268) 2005-01-14 5:15
WOW Yitzhak. I saw this on your intro page...and i am so very glad that i did. I fell in love emidietly. This is such wonderfull abstaction Yitzhak and the play with shadows is amazing. I can only coem to think of 1 thing to make this a perfect capture. If ther was a man/woman standing on the staris as well. You have done so many htings right here Yitzhak. By abstracting it in this way you force us to use our imagination. By cutting of the top they way you did you emply that this building and this staris goes on forever and ever and ever...it becomes enormous, yet, i can end just milimeters above your frame. teh way the shadow is falling and creates an arch makes me think of an open door, an invitation to explore this photo. I only miss that person standing on the stair. That would make my imagination go hey wild i think. I think this is one of your very best Yitzhak. I just love it.
KevRyan (22956) 2005-01-15 4:03
A very beautiful observation - I guess most of the nice things have been said - the strong diagonals, the movement across the image from light to dark, the stuning pattern against the subtle backdrop of the tank.......just wonderful. To the favourites bin!
Maru (0) 2005-01-15 15:22
The composition of the shot is superb. The stairs, it shadows and the color of the wall, green and oxid, create a magic mood. The geometrical lines and the reflection of the shadow balanced the hole composition.
a piece of art.
Jeppe (18654) 2005-01-23 16:28
Oh - how could I miss this one - truly amazing pattern and graphics - lots of math in this :-) I like the mix of strait and curved lines - and yes - the rusty look - your mark - thanks Yitzhak for sharing.
MvS (4163) 2005-02-01 15:07
Good of you to see this opportunity. Probably the best picture taken of this fuel tank ever. The patterna created by the sun and the stairs are interesting.

When I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was a bridge. But I'm wrong. Great picture; very artistic! Deserves 100pts at least. ;-)))

keribar (43841) 2006-06-21 16:06
Of course I know this picture because it illustrates your site, and I am glad you reminded me to look closer. It looks very much like the one I did yesterday morning although I doubt it will take so many points. My picture is somehow a bit sad with a black background while your's bursts with colors.
Best and friendly regards - Izzet
Jeronimo (1382) 2006-06-22 4:04
Very nice colourfull and original shoot Yizhak. It's a nice geometrical composition.
With greating from Mexico.
andante (7092) 2006-06-22 23:39
I'm feeling very attracted to this kind of photography lately. I want to break them down so I can learn more about them. In this one you are presenting a very interesting game of rythm, emphasis and, I especially like how you use the shadow to create a positive space. That's WICKED!!
donluicu (24724) 2006-06-29 12:40

A smile from Italy
