This is the work of bats, pecking the fruits right in the middle, always at nights.
I can agree with their taste: the delicious Cactus fruit called in Hebrew "Sabress" and the plant itself called "Tzabar".

Beautiful composition with this plant in Spain called "chumbera" and its fruit "higos chumbos", I've tried are delicious and cold, that if someone takes the thorns.
The picture is bright and clear, highlighting the ground beautifully.
Have a good night.

Up until now, Ike, I thought bats ate only insects... interesting to see them go after this prickly food. Thanks!

It looks like opuntia (ficus indica)but opuntia usually has red fruits. I am not sure what here is work of bats. I often saw them on markets but I have never tasted.

Well shown small details. Curious information, and the result looks fine, with the balance of colors and lights well managed. Good work, congratulations!

A stunning information, Ike, because I ignored almost-blind bats can zero-in right on fruit at night to empty the best of it, therefore leaving it dying and turning brown.
Maybe their sonar is not discriminatory enough to perceive spines and that's why they're so aggressive towards your Hebrew Sabrees.
Nice colorful view anyway on those sweeties!

The picture describes a plant always pleasantly surprising, despite its seemingly ungrateful. The picture is sharp and of good quality. Bravo.
Have a nice day

Quite a fruitful cactus here... hopefully the bats left some untouched fruits for people to eat too!
Sharp picture with good colour tone.

I used to have one in my garden in Malaysia (imported from south Portugal), but the humid clima was not the best for my cactus. It was growing, slim and toll... Ilike this photo talen from top. The tight crop is a very good choice and the soft light is excellent. Ale in all nice cactus pant photo. Well done.
ourania (47880) 2013-03-02 5:56
a very strange sight, I had never seen it before. Your presentation is direct and effective, your composition fills the frame with intricate, recurrent, random natural patterns captured with excellent sharpness. You've managed the natural colours in a wonderful way. I now can imagine what this place looks like at night... Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,

I think we call the "French figs" in Turkish and they are indeed delicious. It's too bad the bats got to them before you did.
