Photographer’s Note

I was walking from Tel Aviv to Jaffa (the old port town) one day. Tel Aviv is a modern beach town. But then I crossed the line into an older neighborhood and started noticing some interesting older houses. Here is a detail on one of them.

This is a full frame scan of a 35mm negative. Just a minor contrast correction and a sharpen.

The doorway has a faded beauty and charm. It's a lovely photograph. I want to learn the story of that neighbourhood and am waiting for 'City of Oranges: Arabs and Jews in Jaffa' to come out in paperback!
