I actually prefer the WS image with the tighter composition. Sure, there may be some "technical" aspects that didn't quite turn out the way you had hoped but I really like the blue colored reflection on the water as it splashed on the shore...adding a nice effect, along with the stronger presence of the subject matter. Night shots can always pose many frustrating problems, but I think you presented a nice image in spite of a few, small issues. Although the technical aspects are important, I find much more pleasure in what a photographer is wanting to share or express, rather than details.

Of course, Jaffa is sleeping on a blue pillow and the mood captured is quite descriptive of a deep slumber, thanks to dimmed lights!
Studied control of highlights on buildings.

I marvel at your decision to compose and take a picture with so much darkness, you, that love the bright light so much. I like your idea and think it's well realised in this image in which the picture has been painted by brief strokes of light on a black canvas. There's very good balance in the frame and I like the room you gave for the distant reflections. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,

Composition original, minimaliste, bien réaliser comme dans un tableau noir, mignon le petit reflet sur l'avant plan, belle complémentaire en WS

Hello Ike, I really like this minimal light-minimal view picture! A very difficult shot but nicely done with the impressive contrast between the black background and the soft light of the Old Town's historical buildings!
The blue ray gives an impressive look!

Interesting almost black capture only way to avoid the noise, as you show in the WS
There is a reflection on the dark FG
Minimal and creative
Greetings and TFS

The distance to the row of lights is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing a buildings in the distance. I am wondering what an higher ISO would have shown. Have a nice day.

This is a picture at night amazing and minimalist. At night, it is an interesting sight. Good quality. The ws is a bit overexposed. Bravo.
Have a nice day

It could obviously be very dark here at night. I really enjoy your simplistic photo. Personally I would perhaps have chosen a different and tighter cropping and positioned the blue line of the quay at one third from the bottom and the church tower at one third from the left hand side. I hope it is not too difficult to understand my thinking my friend. But as I have already said I really enjoy your photo as it is. It is great when someone posts something different. TFS and have a nice weeekend!
P.S. I did not see your WS until afterwards but this is very close to what I mean. For sure you perfectly understand what I mean.

a minimalist image where the contrast of the colors is very interesting. nice job.

The place looks good
However without offence intention; there is too much black zone in the main picture
The closer view in WS is better. But in night photography, we must take care about the black environnement the sensor camera gives an influence generaly to an overexposure even with a sophisticate material.
In that case I make several tests by underexposing gradually -1/3, -2/3, -1 ..... and finaly I choose the best picture. You saw my last night shot.

A most particular and original photo. Many would say that you should have cropped the photo to be closer to the parts of colour. But I actually like the way you have done it. The expanse of black is beautiful and contrasts the blue tones and lights beautifully. Thanks for sharing. Have a beautiful day.

the golden lighting of the architecture of the old city and the blue light of the long seafront promenade seem to float in the darkness of the night, in a capture skillfully executed.
The composition is clever and has a powerful visual effect for the spectator.
A good work.

I'd rather be closer the landscape have most evident in the building and details. Has an abstraction over the composition and colors create beautiful contrasts.
Have a nice weekend and evening,
