A Woodpecker , it's scientific name: Dendrocopos Syriacus.
This bird 21 – 23cm length, 34 – 38cm wingspan, weight 80 – 83gr approx., is a very evasive photo-model, swift bird , an east-Mediterranean inhabitant in small forests and gardens.
In the WS is another POV of the bird.

I am ever trying to take a shot of a bird like this but here they are very shy. interesting the bird, the lines of the tree and its flowers. it is a jacarandá-mimoso tree, it is native from southern-bolivia, northern-argentina , very usual worldwide

Good shot of this smart woodpecker whose colours blend very well with the colours of the branches.
But he seems to be enjoying the colourful bloom of the tree. What tree is it?
A good composition!
Thanks for sharing!

How much wood would a woodpecker peck if a woodpecker could peck wood? This comes into my mind when I see wouldpecker. This one doesn't peck. Probably everyone learning English knows this phrase. But the tree here is also interesting. Such colour can have wisteria or jacaranda - here probably the last one.

Ciao dear Ike
The first thing that strikes me about this photo is the beautiful purple tree. It looks alot like the Jacaranda Tree that grows here. Is it the same species? They make a spectacular photo subject. But also the unusual Woody Woodpecker, I have not seen one up close and he's very pretty. A well-exposed and well-composed shot of this unique sight.
Thanks for sharing, enjoy your day

What a nice pose this woodpecker is giving you. I like that tinge of red on its head. The purple flowers are nicely blurred to get more effective image. Very nicely captured with good lighting, sharpness and colors.
