A glimpse of Bnei Brak, an ultra-orthodox suburb of Tel Aviv.

I visited there to try some shots and was frustrated by the drab buildings, then I realized that the many charity boxes in the neighbourhood provide some color. I liked this yellow one, and it is possible to see two more charity boxes just behind it.

The yellow charity box belongs to an organization called "My Soul is Thirsty", it says: "My soul is thirsty. Your contribution is important so we can help and support many needy families".

Most men spend a lot of time studying the Bible (Torah), for many it's even a full-time job. And most families have many children.

As a consequence there are many poor families. But the community has many charity organizations that provide different sorts of welfare.

Hi, Daniel.
Interesting shot and well done, reflecting some mood of this district. Good colors.
Best regards. Grazyna.

A good POV of the bus, the man and the yellow box in the suburd of Bnei Brak, the photo has agood composition, sharpness and nice colors. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Daniel,
Seeing this scene it seems that I see a street of Manhattan, where there are seen many of ultra-orthodox like this one. In fact there is a neighborhood of Brooklyn (Williamsburg), where all his community lives.
Though the difference must be that if in Tel Aviv there is poverty in many families, in NY the majority they are rich, since they control the business of the diamonds and others.
On the photo, I like the great contrast between the black garment of the man and the yellow mailbox, with the urban traffic in background.
Made well, my friend.
Best regards,
Josep

I like the neat way this image is 'arranged' Daniel - the figure to the left could almost be from a Magritte painting ...obviously with a different hat an cultural context. An interesting note about such a religious life lived beyond the need to provide physically for one's family.

I've for some time been fascinated by the relationships of the primary colours across a picture frame ....

best wishes Kev

Fascinating view of the Hasidim here, Daniel. We wouldn't get this shot from anywhere else and I love the way you document everyday life (not war) in Tel Aviv - you definitely enrich TE with your ongoing series of street shots. In combination with your excelent note this picture really shines.
Cheers,
Francis

Muito interessante a foto, mas muito interessante também a história da caixa.
