A different perspective due south, to the length of the eastern-wall that was surrounding the ancient town Ashkelon, built in the mid-12th century by the Fatimid Caliphate. The wall was originally 2,200 meters in length, 50 meters in width and 15 meters in height. This is atop of the dike. A previously posted picture on the wall.
Ashkelon located in the south Israel coastal plains, the ruins are at 31.6627, 34.5478 on the map.
A 16:9 aspect ratio.

A fine presentation of these ancient ruins captured under a good light. I like the oblique point of view and the detail to be observed in the old stones, which no doubt have a tale or two to relate if they could only talk.

Bonjour, cher Ike,
C'est un véritable livre d'Histoire présenté à travers cette composition.
Les vestiges demeurent impressionnantes encore aujourd'hui.

The length of the wall is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and the colors of the ancient wall. The good luminosity is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Always union between verdant terrain and shrubs, with ancient stone, create a good harmony, as in the case of this great and interesting composition.
An image to enjoy, with its beautiful colorful, high brightness and perfect sharpness.

Good morning Ike,
If we didn't know an better, this could easily pass for castle ruins also. :) The old wall sure has provided plenty of opportunities, and each picture you've taken helps better visualize and understand its history and form....well, prior form anyway!? Great light and strong, natural color once again, bringing out the most of detail and texture. We're far too quick to replace anything of age, I wish there were many more remnants to the past here in the States. Onward and upward I suppose. Enjoy the new day. All the best.

It seems you are on a tour of your own country. I love ruins and these walls are very intriguing. It's always difficult making them look pretty, but you have done a great job. Excellent colours, textures and depth.
Thanks for sharing, have a lovely day

Interesantan tekst o starom gradu i zidu sa opisom, lep pogled na rusevinu ...
Dobar trenutak snimka, kontrast i perspektiva, lepo pokazano mesto i ruina, lepe boje.
Ostala je rusevina i secanje.
Prijatno vece i mirna noc, sve najbolje.
An interesting article on the old city wall and the description, nice view on the ruins ...
Good time recording, contrast and perspective, nice place and shown the ruins, beautiful colors.
Remained ruins and memories.
Good evening and peaceful night, all the best.

I like that you chose a point of view that included a lot of shadows. There's an attractive perspective and the texture of the stonework is fascinating. The remains of the antique wall don't look formidable anymore but rather like a giant sculpture that signifies the passage of time. I also like how the wall is framed by the contrasting, fresh and vivid colours of the field and the sky. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,

In the olden days, walls were not just to protect you from the elements, as can be seen from the thickness of these ruins! These wall served an important protective job!
You have made a good composition from a difficult subject, with fine leads and sharp details. The light and the colours are glorious.
My warm regards,
Didi (59186) 2014-06-06 10:31

An interesting archaeological site and a fascinating remnant of the ancient walls, well seen with this neat capture creating a nice contrast. Blue and fresh green perfectly match the subject matter that you chose the best view point to emphasize its strength, depth and perspective, full of detail and pleasantly exposed. Well done shot and tx to your infor notes.

what would these old walls tell if they could talk? A historic, exciting place captured in a beautiful, clear photo. Vivid colors. It looks very interesting, but I guess that there are snakes. :-)
